Watford (A) - Post-Match Thread

Look at the top top player Kyle Walker has become compared with Rose. Back in time, many pundits thought them on a similar level.
A perfect example of why Kane will regret not pushing harder to move here in the summer. Does he want to retire with Kyle Walker’s career or Danny Rose’s?

Mate... our first 15 games have been far more difficult than Chelsea's or Liverpool's.. a fact the media have either not noticed or decided to ignore. I think at the start of the season, the general feeling on here was that if we were still in touch by the turn of the year we'd be favourite's to win it. It's beginning to look like we'll be in a far better position than 'still in touch'. A contentious issue for some, but if we get a striker in January we'll become even better (imo) and give ourselves an even greater chance
Pep very deliberately chose to make the point about our tough run of away fixtures in the first half of the season in his post match interviews yesterday.
Yet virtually all the media still chose to totally ignore it.
Seems that in their desperation to talk up ‘the best title race for years’ - which would make them lots more money in ad click revenue - they are desperately trying not to acknowledge the elephant in the room, namely that we could be once again ready to break the back of the season in December and January and absolutely spreadeagle the rest of the league

I think getting knocked out the League Cup is the best thing that could have happened to us.

Miss my spring trip to Wembley but League and CL priority.

Liverpool and Chelsea need to get to the final.

We did what we needed to do, against a determined Watford. Sterling is creeping back to form, Gundog & Silva bossed the game & it was great to see Grealish, Foden & KDB back & looking sharp, just in time for the man-killer festive season programme.

We just need to be more clinical in front of goal. Having said that, what we've lost in goal scoring prowess, we've gained in defensive solidarity. If we could combine our goal scoring of 3 seasons ago, with our current defensive solidarity & our possession, we'd be the best football team in the world right now.

As it stands, I honestly believe we're a clinical striker away from that.

At least some Watford fans appreciate our magnificence.

Against Villa, Gabby sprints down the right and crosses for Bernie to volley. Against Watford, Phil sprints down the left and crosses for Raz to head in.
With Sterling on the left and Mahrez on the right, so often promising counter attacks are halted or slowed while the pair change to their preferred foot, a few seconds, but enough for defenders to regroup.

Sumptuous performance yesterday from City, the only thing that was missing was a few more goals which that display warranted. Game should have been over after 15 mins and the profligacy in front of goal is a recurring theme and one which Pep is all too aware of.

We got a bit sloppy in the last 15 mins, but overall a very good performance and it is a joy to watch this team play at present.
