Watford (A) - Post-Match Thread

Must admit I didn't know it, so thought the version posted on watford forum may have been real - after all, we are usually bloody good at the self-deprecation angle and introspective humour (empty seats etc)... it went:
Ruben Dias, our number 3
Cost us millions, around 60
We bought the cup
We bought the league
We paid off FIFA
We're fuckin cheats

hahahahaha.....

Ha ha ha . ..

Train man, he is a chump
Lurks on this forum like a fucking skunk,
He fools no one, he's not a blue,
Ruben Dias would kick fuck out of you.

I must admit there are times when I think...ffs City do something interesting, it eventually happens but they go about it in a tried and trusted ' keep it in the fridge manner '..it works, it's just very regimented, relentless so to speak.
I agree with this. When in full flow, we’re incredibly good to watch.

But it can feel a bit regimented and rehearsed at times. Especially when the opposition make a mistake. Sometimes it’s crying out for us to exploit it, hit them quickly and punish them, but we often just go backwards and start again.

change fifa to uefa and it's perfect.

I watched the match back knowing the result and as dominant and great as our performance was, well aside from missing a a multitude of chances to score more goals, a few things were slightly worrying. We were in cruise control at 3-0 and really should have probably won 5-0 at least at that point. We then made our subs, which was understandable and took our foot off the gas a bit, again understandable. Then Watford scored, a preventable goal, a bit soft and we wobbled a bit. Josh King flashed one just wide and another player did the same. If either had gone in then it would have been 3-2 and panic stations for the last few minutes. All this from a match we were; n total control of. Yes we broke away and could have scored more ourselves but in keeping with the match we missed them. Also a few players went for individual glory when teammates were better placed to score.

This may sound pedantic but as a perfectionist I'm sure Pep will be highlighting this when the team is back in training. There are few teams you have a chance to really rack up your goal difference against but Watford is one and we really should have made a big dent in the never guilty's superior one, which I think is plus eight better than our own.

On the positive side we are a point clear at the top of the league and have turned a two point deficit in to a two point advantage over Chelsea. Let's hope we can really push on now and open up a large gap

Game management. City have to do so much more this season to score goals. So when we have control we are more likely to coast. There has been a shift in the risk / reward ratio in City playing all out football.

Once we had aguero. He was clinical, and efficient. Now we can rip a side apart in midfield with glorious football and then end it with a fluffed chance, and sometimes it ends up with a counterattack. So when you are winning and you know this, you play differently

I've watched a few Watford games on TV recently and thought they have provided great entertainment. I think we played Watford at a perfect time, just after they played a draining game against Chelsea.

I will be hoping Watford stay up, and Burnley go down simply because they play exciting football.
