Watford (H) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

Do we have a thread for tactical gripes ?

Our attempts at the cross field pass back to front are terrible. Walker has stopped hitting it thank god but not one of the back 4/5 players have it in there locker. Laporte to Mahrez outball is sorely missed in some scenarios. Nunes hit a couple of shockers last night as well.
It’s a harder ball when playing against a back 5. Rodri is our best exponent of the cross field pass and we’ll certainly miss him for that.

Don't think I've even seen him try it cross field (diagonal), down the line or across the back line

The space was there out wide, just seems to be a ball from LB to RW (vice versa) we never see anymore. we seem to shift the ball slow at the moment, probably just early season though

Got a feeling someone did it the other day against Arsenal. Might well have been Rúben. It was a diagonal ball. A longish pass. I admit I was a bit surprised. Fell right on to the feet of the player it was aimed at, too.
Didn't watch (couldn't watch) the match last night, so can't comment.

Coasted through the game after a decent start. Disappointing to concede. It was a great strike though.

Rico looked good. His energy and tempo really impress me.

Great to have so many academy lads on the pitch.

Not really much more to say.

What was last nights attendance figure?
I've looked for that also but to no avail, very strange. Steward told me they were expecting 41k which looked about right.
Also be interested to know how at least 2 groups of Dutch fans managed to get tickets in the home sections. They weren't a problem but if its that easy then we could well have reasons to be concerned. Hard to believe they all paid for memberships.

FC Twente fans, how they got tickets is another thing. Same time as the game was on, another group of Twente fans were fighting with Man United
‘How they got tickets?’ sounds a rather dumb question since the stadium was less than three-quarters full!

Football clubs tend to sell tickets if they are available.

I meant to ask earlier.

Was that the most Academy products to start a game for City, since Kendall sounds Hinchcliffe to Everton?

I think it probably was.
