Watford (H) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

Not bad!

Rico was really good.. at times was like Rodri. Has to be a nailed on starter.

We won by a Nunes goal.. he can't be totally useless as some claim.

Nico O'Reilly not bad.. much better than Jacob Wright.

Walker has to do better. :(
Jacob only got about 15 minutes mate, Nico is a fabulous talent but, Nico is not a DM and Jacob is so much better in that position than him, I thought it was a great exercise and it was fantastic to see so many academy players in our first team.
I hope they all take away pride and confidence from tonight.

None of the kids let us down tonight, thought McAtee had a decent game. Last 10 mins was poor and we looked a bit uncomfortable towards the end, but we won that's all that matters.

Job done is all that really needs to be said. Was never going to be a fluent performance with all the changes made to the team. Most of those players have barely had a kick in anger all season but it was a case of needs must after getting shafted by the schedule. Rico continues to impress and Jack is getting his mojo back. Savinho unlucky not to get his maiden goal for us tonight. Pleased for Jezza & Matty to get off the mark and it's a shame we couldn't put the game to bed earlier. Credit to Watford who kept plugghing away and leave town with the goal of the night. On to the next round now and hope there's not any more fixture congestion like we've had this week.

City through

As opposed to ArseAnal, at least Watford came to play & they gave us a game, albeit we dominated & were comfortable until Tom Ince's brilliant left foot curler into the top left corner. It was a hairy last 9 minutes, as Watford gave it their all trying to cause an upset.

Doku got us off the mark & looked lively, & I'm happy for Nunes getting his first goal, but what was with the face like a slapped arse after?

Nunes has had enough chances to impress since his arrival, but has been pretty much average. He was acting like he was pissed off because he should be playing every week. His shit reaction won't endear him to many fans.

My MoTM was Zico. He was quietly efficient, didn't put a foot wrong & made football look easy.

Savinho fizzed when he came on, & I'm gutted his full length of the pitch run & effort on goal ended with the ball hitting the post.

When I saw the line-up, I thought "Braithwaite who?". Never heard of him, but this must be the greatest night of his 16 years to make his debut for City at the Etihad. I thought Watford's disallowed goal was borderline OK tbh, but luckily for us & Braithwaite the ref ruled it out for the overly aggressive shove which led to the decent finish.

We're through to the next round, & several players got a good run out, including McAtee, O'Reilly & Wright. Roll on Newcastle, & here's hoping for some positive news regarding Rodri's injury.
