Watford post match thread

Worse overall performance i've seen from a City side in many years. (Feels like i've said that too often in the last 12 months). Really feel like with a change of manager in the summer should come in a serious change in personnel. Getting to the point where i'd let everyone who won the title in 2012 who's still at the club go with the sole exception of Kun and Hart. Time for fresh blood and fresh impetus.

Pellegrini I see has taken a lot of stick - daft as fuck again from people. His tactical changes and substitutions won a game the players really had little interest in winning until they were behind.

Hmmm, good substitutions I will agree with that; but it was Kamikaze tactics prior to that. The team is so unbalanced and he is trying to accommodate too many attacking players. The gaps in the middle of the field are just ridiculous.

Hi all. Clearly a Watford fan here. Well done yesterday. Thought that we nearly had you but class told in the end against a side that were out on their feet. It might seem a bit old fashioned but just wanted to congratulate you on the way you play the game. Having suffered the game against much vaunted Spurs when they spent the whole game trying to get players booked, feigning injury, it was good to see a quality team play properly. It seems as though a lot of you feel you played badly but to be honest every team we have played this season has claimed that they had an off day against us. We must be doing something right. Best of luck for the rest of the season.[/QUOTE

Good on you, thought your boys out battled us for most of the game & that should see you finish the season way above your expectations. Refreshing post on your part, we get so much crap thrown in our direction these days!!

It wasn't kamikaze tactics mate, it was a case of matching up an inferior side position for position. In fact, Pellegrini made it fucking easy for our players. There was no tactical genius required. At least there should've have been. Win your battles and you'll win the match. When Jurado is making Silva look like a clown tells me everything I need to know about people being arsed about winning their battles.

I agree and the irony is that our attacking play has generally been worse as well. We looked at our best and most balanced the first few games of the season. Obviously we can't field that exact same team at present due to Kompany's injury but that's the only change we'd have to make. Your best 11 players don't always make the best team and for now I'd play Navas ahead of KDB.

Nice post mate - good luck to you for the rest of the season. I am sure you will stay up. We were frustrating for the first 75 mins albeit we did have chances. Enjoyed having a few beers in the Flag before and after the game.

On Silva's current form I wouldn't let him make the half time drinks let alone actually get on the pitch.

Very gracious Harry,
I honestly don't think I'd be saying the same- roles reversed, for the most part Watford controlled the game better than city, we may have scored two great goals, but that was all we did, and we really didn't deserve the win Watford did. Although Watford looked too tired at 80mins to do anything about our only midfielder, that was the key- if Watford took advantage of our minimal midfield at that point you'd have kept the lead if not added to it.
When we played Leicester I came away thinking it was 2 good teams trying to win, and same again- you did try and attack us, and you have some good players, I'm sure Watford are almost where Watford deserve to be, besides a point or three from yesterday. All best for the rest of the season

Yeah understand what you're saying...I just feel we're just too open and top heavy in attack, which brings increased pressure on the defence. Not sure KDB, Silva and Sterling works when you need to roll your sleeves up and battle, which is what is required in majority of games away from home in the prem.

I agree that he isn't in good from at the moment but that will come. As I said if we go for the players that started the season (where possible), I suspect his form may well pick up.

Defensively I thought once again the main issue was Kolarov being dogshit and leaving far too much space for Mangala to cover, AND, separately Mangala being incapable of making the right decision when put under pressure. Was noticeable that every time the ball went near him Deeny or Ighalo immediately went to press him.

I feel the balance isn't right with Silva and KDB in the side together. Personally I'd drop Silva like a hot potato on current form, move KDB centrally, and play Navas one wing Sterling the other.
