Watford post match thread

Very gracious Harry,
I honestly don't think I'd be saying the same- roles reversed, for the most part Watford controlled the game better than city, we may have scored two great goals, but that was all we did, and we really didn't deserve the win Watford did. Although Watford looked too tired at 80mins to do anything about our only midfielder, that was the key- if Watford took advantage of our minimal midfield at that point you'd have kept the lead if not added to it.
When we played Leicester I came away thinking it was 2 good teams trying to win, and same again- you did try and attack us, and you have some good players, I'm sure Watford are almost where Watford deserve to be, besides a point or three from yesterday. All best for the rest of the season

We had more possession, more corners, more shots off target, more shots on target and more goals. We didn't play well but if either team deserved to win it was us.

I agree that he isn't in good from at the moment but that will come. As I said if we go for the players that started the season (where possible), I suspect his form may well pick up.

It's possible. I certainly agree attacking wise the balance hasn't been right since KDB and Silva both came into the side. For me one of them has to make way for Navas. Guess Pellegrini's stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea. Drop a fan's favourite for an expensive new signing OR leave the expensive new signing on the bench. He'll take pelters either way.

Sadly true.

Defensively I thought once again the main issue was Kolarov being dogshit and leaving far too much space for Mangala to cover, AND, separately Mangala being incapable of making the right decision when put under pressure. Was noticeable that every time the ball went near him Deeny or Ighalo immediately went to press him.

I feel the balance isn't right with Silva and KDB in the side together. Personally I'd drop Silva like a hot potato on current form, move KDB centrally, and play Navas one wing Sterling the other.

It is interesting. I mentioned the other day to a mate that I thought we hadn't played particularly well since we signed KDB and that I thought his signing had unsettled the side and maybe even the club. I am usually wrong but thought it was a discussion worth having.

I'd rather give Silva the games he needs to get back into nick, because Pep is going to want to use him and KDB together so he obviously sees something there, so I don't see why we can't benefit from it this season too. Dropping Silva just limits us in our potential in attack, and you give players like Silva time to get into gear, like you do Aguero.

You have to ask yourself the logic in buying KDB and Sterling if they are expected to play along side Silva , Kun & Yaya.

Not one of them appears to like pressing the opposition, certainly not all at once anyway.

Either they are not following instructions or they think it's beneath them, if it's the latter then serious questions need to be asked of the old guard.

Sterling and KDB are signings for the future (Pep).

Having said that the entire midfield 2/3 needs replacing, along with 2 new fullbacks this team will be transformed. If these positions had been sorted I'm confident we wouldn't all be speaking as we are now.

Feel sorry for Manuel if I'm honest.

Let's back them now til the end of the season as we don't have a choice .

Can you imagine the shit storm at the ground if he dropped Silva for Navas. Navas gets a tremendous amount of stick near me even when he plays ok.

If anyone had to make way, I'd bench Sterling who has had an up and down season so far. I think we need Silva to be playing to find some form.

That win was a turning point for us ! Ok we were all worried when they scored but we stood up and turned it round . I could be wrong but that result seriously cheered me up. Onwards and upwards .

It's a tough one but Pelligrini gets paid well to make the right decisions and it's us as fans to moan if he drops Silva KDB or sterling. At the moment the team doesn't look as balanced with Navas not in the side.

I think whenever we've tried to play KDB on the right side with another playmaker next to him (whether it be Toure or Silva) we haven't performed particularly well. Personally I think it's either or from Silva or KDB with Navas and Sterling because otherwise, especially when we end up playing nominal 442 with Silva and KDB as wide playmakers, the lack of cover for the full backs is scary, the lack of pace is a worry, the lack of shape and commitment to that shape is a worry. Silva and KDB are both players who to some extent need to have some defensive freedom as they're so dangerous on the break. Right now KDB is the most dangerous of the two so Silva should get dropped.
