Watford post match thread

I would give Sterling a rest. Slows the game up by trying to do too much, then ponders and gets robbed. KDB on the left, Navas on the right. Take Everton's attacking fullbacks out of the equation, and real pace and nous. I have deep concern about Hart. If Kolarov hadn't headed that corner, it was going in anyway. I'm sure Hart was looking to punch it! Rodney!

I'd do the same. Sterling is a bit too hit and miss at the moment. We should try and get a nice lead in this first leg to shut the blue scousers up when they descend on our place.

In a semi final I wouldn't play Caballero either but I'm sure he he will.

The pitch is poor and other managers have complained about it. Not excusing the whole performance but it was a factor.

No it wasn't

I'm wondering how he compares for 'workrate' with players in the same position in other top sides. I don't know. I don't rate him at all as a footballer, I think he wastes the ball most of the time, often can't defend, & is scared to pass with his right foot, often ruining the passage of play. But I'm wondering if he runs more than other fullbacks, as I can't figure why he's still here (apart from free kicks).

Statistically our full backs have been the best in the league this season; maybe there are some clues in that?

The pitch at Watford is diabolical, so you have to play a different style to compensate.

The trouble is our manager does not appear to plan for such things, and we continued to play tippy tappy football that does not work in those conditions.

The result was such a relief and perhaps we can now start on a good run in the league, we have the players - not sure we have the manager though.

And statistically Utd are the best defensive team. All I'm saying is fuck statistics, kolorov is an unnecessarily lazy passer

I would have to see the statistics & which fullbacks they are being compared to as opposed to Ashley Young or Danny Blind or Vertonghen etc. Not sure there are any teams in the Prem with any real fullbacks playing regularly to compare with. If you offered all on a free transfer, I'd probably decline.

How do they compare with Bayern's or Barca's or Real Madrid's etc ?

Also, Kolarov and Sagna have put in several brave challenges in recent games, knowing that they were likely to get clattered. I didn't think this was their strengths but I've been pleasantly surprised!

I think Sagna is a good defender, just not great going forward, but in recent games his (few) crosses have been miles better than Kolarov's (many).
