Watford post match thread

The first two are our future whilst the latter are not and thats the brutal truth going forward, however much we love them.

Thats the reason they have been signed and no doubt with pep in mind.
You think Silva and Aguero don't have a City future?

I've read comments from yourself and Billy about Silva today that I find quite odd. Silva is definitely struggling to make an impact but that has nothing to do with the effort he is making or his age, and everything to do with the way City are set up. But that's a consequence of a very deliberate decision by Pellegrini. Nothing to do with the age of the players

Of course he has but not forever and thats the point I made in reply to the poster questioning why we signed Sterling and KdB.

I thought Mangala played well again. If anything he was the better of the two centre-backs. It was Otamendi who got spun by Ighalo in the 1st half.

I don't think Pellegrini taking him off did him any favours image wise but I think manager and players will know that we were up against it away at Watford and leicester without Kompany. We needed Manglala and Otamendi to come good and in fact they have. The struggle now is to get more out of the attacking players
i thought Mangala was ok too,i think its a habit to slag him off for some.....

I'm not slagging him off because I do think he will improve as a city player and we will all think of him as a quality defender soon,... But his positioning was poor yesterday. Although, he does seem to get stick for things that aren't necessarily his fault, like kolorov being a lazy bastard, and otemendi being drawn too far out of defence by the strikers etc etc

One thing you cannot accuse our fullbacks of is being lazy

He wasn't terrible, but made some crucial mistakes including a missed tackle early on that Otamendi had to clean up. He looks like a rookie in a pro's game at times. On close-up TV shots, you can see fear in his eyes. I still think we bought the wrong French CB - Zouma to me, while not perfect yet, is younger and looks calmer and better-equipped. Also cost Chelsea a fraction of the price.

Not just for some on here but it's happening in the media too.

On TV, they showed Mangala being pushed onto the ball for the corner but no mention of Otamendi flying out into no mans land & getting nowhere near the ball which gave Mangala the problem in the first place (something he does ALL the time) yet Micah Richrds was getting hammered for doing similar (but not as bad) in the Villa game.

For the record, I think Mangala has a hell of a long way to go, but far's fair & currently Otamendi is a often an absolute nightmare. Even the criticism of Fernandinho at cb neglects to mention that whilst he wan't very good in the short time he was there, he was actually better than the bloke next to him, who was hoplessly nutmegged in the move which caused Fernandinho to miskick his clearence. Neither cb is consistently any good.

As a critic of Pellegrini, fair play to him for trying something different with Fern. If it hadn't worked, still, at least it was a break from his usal routine & was actual 'management' for a change. It worked, it changed the pattern, & well done. For once, he has actually helped gain 3 points rather than lose them.

pellers called it right at the end but were clearly accommodating players, silva out of form sterling an enigma, Kolarov poor defensive player, yaya in the last throws of his city career, Mangala has clearly not got the capability of resurrecting his city career, Sergio lost on his own up front. We still are littered with quality and still littered with average, this season is the easiest title to win I can remember and we're making a right hash of it although I firmly believe we're yet to click and we should piss the league. 3 points in the bag and two quality finishes, and a well done Bacary for the non stop effort and overlap and cross for Sergio to grab the win.

Not fullbacks, fullback- Kolorov.
I don't mean lazy by not running, he's a lazy passer, I get very frustrated with him, when he just needs to do a simple little 5yard pass to someone it's as if he's too 'posh to pass'. And he gives it away, or it's too short or goes out, very frustrating player kolorov.

That's not what you were inferring in your previous post

well FairPlay, I can see how you would think that, I'm just feel that if you take kolorov as an example, he does things and doesn't get 'slagged off' for it, whereas mangala makes the odd mistake and gets battered by everyone, and sometimes it is because of kolorov's poor pass, or whatever. I think it's a little unfair, when mangala does try/care (he reminds me of a child that's eager to please) as opposed to kolorov who should care more about the nuts and bolts of his game (about the little passes etc).

Not sure what you mean, he was accused of being lazy I don't think he is a lazy player
, fullback is the most difficult position to play in most teams these days

I'm wondering how he compares for 'workrate' with players in the same position in other top sides. I don't know. I don't rate him at all as a footballer, I think he wastes the ball most of the time, often can't defend, & is scared to pass with his right foot, often ruining the passage of play. But I'm wondering if he runs more than other fullbacks, as I can't figure why he's still here (apart from free kicks).

I would give Sterling a rest. Slows the game up by trying to do too much, then ponders and gets robbed. KDB on the left, Navas on the right. Take Everton's attacking fullbacks out of the equation, and real pace and nous. I have deep concern about Hart. If Kolarov hadn't headed that corner, it was going in anyway. I'm sure Hart was looking to punch it! Rodney!
