Watford post match thread

Well I mean lack of work rate actually

Know what you mean. It's like the team go out with the intention of doing just enough to win and that an 80% performance is enough. Then when teams have the termerity to stand and fight we only roll our sleeves up when it's too late as in the Arsenal game or almost too late like today.

People keep saying winning while not playing particularly well is the sign of champions: So does the trophy go to us, Arse or rags?
As for yesterday, the M6 traffic south from Lymn to Knutsford took half an hour due to an accident, the round trip got 50mpg and the burger was OK. And the torrential rain was only light drizzle going to and from the car park.
We had more shots, we had more shots on target, we had more corners and we scored their fucking goal for them. I accept we weren't great - we gave the ball away far too often and most errors were unforced, I accept we were perhaps a bit lucky to win, but by what measure did Watford deserve to win? Did someone suggest it was "next goal wins" as the teams came out for the second half? We even got our winner before stoppage time so it's not like it was truly last-gasp.
It was an average performance with two great goals, but too many on here can only see performances as great or shite.

Excellent away win, in the space of a week we've screwed up the press comments of "can't keep a clean sheet without Kompany" and "can't win away from home" ha ha........now what do they have?

I really don't think the 4-5-1 formation is working at all. It leaves kun far too isolated

people need to stop the fixation with formations every week, declaring one as a dud whilst another as the magic bullet.

Yet again yesterday we saw players not putting in the required work rate and effort for 80 mins and then all of a sudden, giving a shit and getting the job done.

We move the ball far to slow regardless of formation.

Hi all. Clearly a Watford fan here. Well done yesterday. Thought that we nearly had you but class told in the end against a side that were out on their feet. It might seem a bit old fashioned but just wanted to congratulate you on the way you play the game. Having suffered the game against much vaunted Spurs when they spent the whole game trying to get players booked, feigning injury, it was good to see a quality team play properly. It seems as though a lot of you feel you played badly but to be honest every team we have played this season has claimed that they had an off day against us. We must be doing something right. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

Any win away from home this season is a massive plus, were we the only away team to win yesterday?
We've played some shockers at home over the last few years, but scraped points, the single point from the draw against against Sunderland, that had everybody in dispair, was actually the point that helped us clinch the title that year.
The difference is finishing, that's why we need Aguero and all our players who are capable of chipping in with goals, to be standing up and doing just that when we are on top.

Worse overall performance i've seen from a City side in many years. (Feels like i've said that too often in the last 12 months). Really feel like with a change of manager in the summer should come in a serious change in personnel. Getting to the point where i'd let everyone who won the title in 2012 who's still at the club go with the sole exception of Kun and Hart. Time for fresh blood and fresh impetus.

Pellegrini I see has taken a lot of stick - daft as fuck again from people. His tactical changes and substitutions won a game the players really had little interest in winning until they were behind.

It's fairly obvious that we will have to scrap for a lot of the points we get this season.

MP is responsible for the performance of the team at the end of the day and too often this season he has struggled to get the best out of the players which really began to become engrained in the squad performances over 12 months ago.

Many of the side have had domestic success with the club and you need someone special to motivate them to climb the hill again and again.

Come on, it wouldn't be city if we won every game 3 nil. At this point in the season it's all about the points. I spent 80 mins shouting at the tv and scaring the kids but then 2 mins later I was jumping and dancing around like a looney. That's my city for you! I wouldn't have it any other way.

+1 :-)

I think Stoke was worse, we simply do not work hard enough when out of possession , totally agree that some of them have become stale and fresh blood is required

Nice one Harry.

Something that pep will 100% change and will want his own players he trusts.

Its clear that as the end is coming for Pellegrini, its also coming for a number of our players.

Its football and no bad thing.
