"Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle''

After another defeat, the BBC have stopped calling the team Wayne Rooney's Plymouth.

Sheffield United opened up a three-point gap over Leeds at the top of the Championship after beating Wayne Rooney's struggling Plymouth at Bramall Lane.
Hmm. "Wayne Rooney's Struggling Plymouth?" "Struggling Wayne Rooney's Plymouth" would more accurate.

Or maybe "Fat scouse rag granny shagging Struggling Wayne Rooney's Plymouth" would be most appropriate.

Perhaps a tad too long for the papers and websites.

Rooney should date people more like himself - but I hear potatopartners.com has closed down.

The FA Cup 3rd round draw televised on the BBC from The Swamp was chock full of references to 'Wayne Rooney's Plymouth', 'Michael Carrick's Middlesborough', 'Ruud Van Nistlerooy's Leicester' and 'Darren Ferguson's Peterborough'.. sickening sycophancy as ever..

My son-in-law and his family are all Argyle supporters.. they can't stand Rooney..
Did it all start with Elton John's Watford though R John !?

I posted on this a few weeks ago, R Kid, as follows:

"My Geordie, Toon-loving pal over in York messaged me earlier re. the BBC footy page's preview of tonight's game 'Wayne Rooney's Plymouth versus Tom Cleverley's Watford'.

He was complaining about the media's obsession with all things Red Filth.

I responded pointing out it was ever thus and saying I bet if you went back to the late 50s the newspaper records would have reports on 'Johnny Carey's Blackburn Rovers' versus 'Allenby Chilton's Grimsby Town'.

It'll never change. Hey-f**king-ho"
