We are NOT Man City..

Nail on the head. Especially the professional part. IMO it's akin to Apple referring to themselves as 'apl' or MS doing a bit of the old 'mcrsft'.
It's nothing like that. In fact, mcfc.co.uk is far more akin to what you are suggesting above.

Nobody I know has ever said I support 'Man City'

We are City..there's only one City so why would they add 'Man' at the beginning!

Again..as I have explained a couple of times on this thread

Doesn't matter what fans call us

I'm talking about how the club refers to us..and I think using Man City doesn't come across as very professional
When talking with mates we use City. On the web, you do that you'll get all kinds of City's.

mancity is a suitable short identifier for Manchester City online. That's all there is to this.

In time, because of the influence of online activities I expect fans will start calling City, Mancity. There's nothing sinister in that, It's just a change in habits as technology changes how we relate and interact to stuff

If i,am in the north west talkin football i say city if i,am abroad or down south i say man city !!!

We should of changed it to ManchesterFc not sure here but wasn't Manchester City the first team to be called Manchester? And when the rags wanted to change there name to Manchester they had to ask our permission?

26 pages eh? The forum really needs the season to hurry the fuck up..

We should HAVE changed it to that at all.

I say Just City or from time to time gods own team, never use man city if honest, but not overly bothered if others do.

Think the original point is this is part of the clubs global marketing plan and dropping the full Manchester bit to a world wide audience has grated on some.

I mean how fucking annoying is it when people around the world refer to the rags as just Manchester, seems like we are letting them own that title, we know we are Manchester but to a new global audience we will be know as mancity while they are refered to as Manchester, it does make a difference in that aspect.

Mcfc man city manchester city City or the blues etc none of them bother me, we all know who we are.

Actually, that used to wind me well and truly up when I would hear French commentators regularly refer to them that way right through the nineties and noughties. Now, to my amusement, several times last year I heard them do it with us!! Journalists are just fucking lazy, and know-nothings. Over and over again, I've patiently explained to French people over the years that nobody, absolutely nobody in the UK (and certainly not in Manchester itself) knows of any football club called "Manchester". Or indeed "Bristol". Or indeed "Sheffield". I've thought about why people in the rest of the world should be so lazy about this, and I think it comes partly down to this. The English Premier League (and the lower divisions) is one of the very few in the world where you have two major clubs in one town, that can only be distinguished by the second part of the name. No such thing in any other European league that I can think of, with the exception of Spain (Atletico and Real) and Italy (A.C. and Inter). And none that I know of in South America (even in Buenos Aires it's Boca Juniors and River Plate).
