We buy any car company----Query

sold a bit of a pup to wewillbuyyourcar.com recently and they actually come round to eyeball it, agree the final price and drive it away on the spot once the cash is transferred across

I was happy with the price given the history of the car and the fact that I couldn't be arsed taxing it/ insuring it/ working on it after it had been off the road a short while (and knowing the ongoing costly niggles it had which were not evident to them)

I could have got more privately for sure but to me the extra cash was not worth the work and aggro required to get it. My time is more valuable to me right now and this exercise was quick and absolutely painless

I wouldn't sell every car this way but it has its place

In two minds whether to use these.
Currently got a Mondeo, book price for part ex is £985, (it's a 2004 ST diesel with 83k on the clock). Private sell could get £1600 plus, but I would need to spend a bit to get it up to a sellable standard. Going for an Insignia, £8k and the dealer has offered me part ex value of £800 for mine. I've told him all is well with the car, mechanically, but not told him the key fobs on the central locking don't work. He hasn't asked about that, and has agreed the price, but wondering now if he will fuck about when he sees the locking is fucked. My mate says it will just go to auction and not to care. Might just buy the car outright though and sell mine to WBAC.com.

Part ex's do go straight to Auction at Toyota , so Vauxhall will probably be the same ..... if the book price for your car is £985 , and they've offered £800 i don't think that's a bad shout .... and even if they DO bring it up about the key fobs , tell them that it's 'swings and roundabouts' as they've offered £185 short of the recommended book price.

Even with the hassle of a private sale , it's rare that people won't try to haggle on the asking price a bit ..... even if you DO any much needed repairs !

It's a second hand dealer, not a Vauxhall dealer mate. He looked at the car briefly and asked if it was mechanically sound and if any engine warning lights etc. The fobs only stopped working the day before yesterday and it's not the batteries as i've changed them. Feel a bit bad to be honest! Then again though I got stung on this one as it's been a fucking dud and had £2.5k spent on it in repairs.

Used the one in Stockie in 2010.

It's correct that you rarely, if ever, get the online price. That said, and I might be an exception, I felt I got a lot more than my car was actually worth. Expected to be quoted £2/£2.5k and ended up with £4k. Was quick, easy and money in account pretty quick too. Didn't have any problems.

Like I say though, I've only used them the once.

Ah right ......

in my experience second hand dealers will just use a local garage they know to do the car up and resell it , above the price they paid you for it of course ...... at least that's what's happened when i've used a couple of second hand dealers !

I actually saw a part ex car that i'd sold them being driven around the local area two weeks later by a new buyer ... i rang them up just out of curiosity , and a local car salesman that i know quite well was braggin' to me that he'd made good money on the resale !

Main dealers usually can't be arsed doing them up , unless a part ex is in great condition .. and will usually just ship them to auction.

Deal it in as agreed, the dealer will prob patch it up and have it for sale +£500 more than he gave you and your away from the hassle of selling it,
He's already made his money on the Insignia, owt he makes on your trade in is a bonus to him.
