We finished 9pts behind Manure last season

You cannot judge the improvement of a side on winning cups as a large element of luck and good kind draws can influence that. Birmingham won a trophy the year they got relegated would anyone consider that progress.

We are a much better team and will achieve a lot more points than last year. Further progress and tremendous performances along the way

Look at scousers, they`ve lost 6 out of the last 7 league games.

But have won the Carling Cup on penalities, including the semi`s !

On the other hand we could be 8 behind the scum by the next time we play..

If we finish more than 9pts behind them this season, is that progress?

We virtually finished 2nd last season (only missed out on GD).
What the fuck is that all about?

FFS, have we progressed? Is this a serious question or what?

We all think last year was a great season for pretty much one reason and one reason only, and that's because we won a domestic trophy. But it only takes a bit of luck and six good performances to do that, and lets be honest, it took us eight games to get those performances last year didn't it. To win the domestic title you pretty much need 38 great performances and a bit of luck; and I don't think we're too far away from that this season are we. (please do not list our bad performances just to prove me wrong).

Last season the importance of the Wembley final buoyed us on and inspired us to put in an end of season push which saw us finish in an over-inflated position in the league, but we weren't ever really title contenders were we. This year we are though. And serious ones too. Look how many points behind us third place are. Nobody's finishing joint 2nd this year are they. It's so obvious that we've progressed it's almost embarrassing to have to explain it.

And in response to all the media reading doom an gloom mongers who roll out their "loads of money spent so we've failed if we don't win it" lines; in '93 when Trafford Borough Rangers hadn't won the title for decades and had spent big to get it, they got pipped to it by Leeds, which has got to have stung a bit for them, but what happened the season after that? and the season after that? what about the one after that? What I'm trying to say is that it's a learning curve and the more times we seriously content for the title, the better we'll get at it. Who knows, we might even win it this year, but if we don't there's always next year, and the year after that, and the year after that ...etc. We're not a one season wonder like Liverpool were a couple of years back, we're here to stay and when we win one we'll win a few, the floodgates will open for us if we keep stability (ie - the manager and most of the core of the first team squad), IMO. If the unthinkable does happens I'll be gutted, maybe a bit more than I usually am at the end of a season, but all we need to do is add an extra dimension to our already brilliant squad, learn a few lessons from this season's mistakes and make sure that we're in a slightly better position this time next year.

F*cking 9 points behind them! Give it a rest lads.

Just keep calm blues, the ride has only just begun and it's progressing pretty well IMO.

We could be 8 points behind come next weekend with the rags to play at home. Now we have finally dropped points at home I personally we will do again.

I don't think this season we have made progress, if anything I think we've gone backwards. Teams have figured out how to play against us and Saturday wasn't the first time this season where we've been outplayed.

I was really excited for this season and now I can't wait for it to end.

Shame really. Seems like another summer of rebuilding is required because we still have players in our 1st team squad that are not good enough.

For me it isn't about maths or comparisons, it's a simple question which Abu dhabi will be asking in the summer.

Has this man, over the last two and a half years, proven that he can take city to domestic and European domination? Can he be trusted to male the right decisions and lead the whole club?

It's an absolute no-brainer for me, has been since 2-3 months into his contract .

agree 100%

Progress??
I think its difficult to judge. We haven't made progress with our away form yet the home for has been brilliant. I think we have disappointing in every cup competition we have played in and I think Mancini has a lot to answer for in that respect

Overall, post Xmas we have been disappointing and I think, unless our end to the season is fantastic(nothing to suggest it will be) then I think its the end of the road for Mancini.
