The financial climate suggests that clubs will sell eventually for fear of not getting anything. That's when things will begin to turn in our favour. We've just got to have the balls not to blink first I reckon.

Too right. I said so much in the RSC thread below. ADUG are more astute than BFS, surely?

I'd say so! Haha! It was obvious teams would try it on, and teh exchange rate with the EURO would also suggest that we're the only club that can viably go shopping abroad too. Which is probably why we've been biding for 2-3 players in each position (hence the Taiwo story) and waiting for a reaction. We'll be signing players soon, just trying to wait for a club that wants to do serious business instead of trying to shaft us!

At this stage thats what every club is trying to get us to do and are holding out for stupid money.
We will get shafted but its the degree of the shafting that we can control. The longer into the window it gets then I think the selling clubs will start to get twitchy, there is after all over 3 weeks left, and they may feel that if they piss City off who else is going to come in for their players.
IMHO I dont think much at all will happen for a week or two at least if we are going to try to do business with a premiership club. Perhaps the next signing(s) will be overseas players ?
Bridge from Chelsea is different as they are not desparate for cash, whereas other clubs like West Ham, Blackburn etc are

Do you think anyone at the club saw this coming? Are we really looking at Feb before our signings get thrown in? The amount of money it looks like we are going to end up spending, and the wages as well, and some folks want top signings...something is just wrong with this picture.

I reckon so. The top brass will have done. They'll be 3rd and 4th targets for each player Hughes wants I reckon. Remember we bid for 6/7 players to sign Robinho, I think we're testing the water with players and clubs to see who will bite. We've waited 30 years, couple of weeks wont hurt eh? :D

We need players quick so no matter what the cost is get them signed when we are up there challenging for honours then we can start with the so called tapping up process hate saying this but like the rags did with burbs
