We must improve

The Germans and the Turks literally have organisers with load hailers running in front of the fans organising the chants, the songs. Even in Spain its very orchestrated.

We might just need some leaders or organisation in the stands amongst fans, to gee everyone around us up to encourage all to learn the lyrics.

It is an awesome sight to behold being in a heaving crowd screaming for more.

That's something for the club to do isn't it?

It would be sad and cheesy if the club did it.

Im not having a moan but what happened to going mental when we score? A lot of people just seemed to stand up and clap today whereas I like to celebrate a goal like its a last minute winner against the rags!

Atmosphere starts with the away fans and generally we react to that. If they're shit then we are. The singing sections haven't really worked.

Standing's got fook all to do with it. There's this big myth that the atmosphere at Maine Road was always electric, and that's the biggest load of old bollocks ever

I'm not referring to Mancini's post-match interview mantra, but us the fans. I can't be the only one that thought the atmosphere was appalling today? We have everything we could possibly wish for out on the pitch and this seems to have turned us into Spanish football fans, turning up and merely waiting to be entertained, before engaging in a polite clap and then returning to silence.

Come on, for God's sake! Our team is amazing, our manager is amazing, our owner and chairman are amazing. In fact, everything is amazing... except the atmosphere at home. It made me cringe when Nasri said his piece about Arsenal fans not being so passionate since the move to The Emirates. He obviously wasn't aware that we are no different. By all means, sit in silence when we go 5 months without a home goal under Stuart Pearce, but when we are genuine title contenders and have Silva, Aguero, Nasri and Dzeko as a front four, we need to do better.

And before the inevitable comments, considering our home atmosphere to be shocking does not make someone a rag. I sit in the East Stand, yet could still hear Robero Martinez clapping. That's how bad it was today. It's a valid complaint!

spot on.
+1

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it. I think we are amongst the worst and quietest fans in the country. We are an abomination of a set of fans on the atmosphere level. Yesterday was an embarrassment! Fair play to the blokes at the back of 104/105 who always try to start songs off, keep it up, there's the odd ones who try to help you out in the middle of 105, eventually we'll get there and get songs going around ESL1. Yesterday the Family Stand were better than the South Stand and the East/South Corner weren't much better. "boring boring South Stand" was sung yesterday and deservedly so, you were appalling! But what's worse is the silent fuckers all round the rest of the ground. The only time they pipe up is when they shout at me to "sit down" (FUCK OFF!!!).

City as a club are to blame. I HATE(!) the set up of our stadium. It's fucking shit! Everything centres around the away fans. This makes them the most important part of the stadium. Whether there's 800 of them like yesterday [this makes City fans quiet because there's no banter, which is stupid!] or whether there's 2800 of them [this makes City fans drowned out most of the time becuase our 3000 are split up into two areas, which is stupid!] ; our vocal areas are never very good unless you're stood in them. To the rest of us around the stadium it's like a band with a front man who has no microphone. The vocal areas are the front man with no microphone and the rest of us can't sing along because we can't hear you. There are loads of little pockets of five fans here or there all around the ground who try and start songs off but too many silent fans sit around the rest of the ground so nothing ever catches on.

The stadium set up and lack of atmosphere is the worst thing about Mancheter City Football Club! :( it saddens and angers me!

I agree with what many are saying here. The so-called 'singing section' need to sing more but when they do it's fractured by the fact that they are not as one, and are separated by the away contingent. I hope the club will start recognizing this and stick the away fans in the corner or to one side, but not too far away from our most vocal fans. Then we can unite our two sets of more vocal fans and then become a stronger, louder unit. I sit in the North Stand and it's improved this season so far but on the whole it's all of the stadium that needs to create the atmosphere and not wait for the team to start us off.
