we need another david silva, its as simple as that

In the summer we definately need to get another player like Silva but till then i think we will be fine.

The reason why is because Tevez can give us exactly what Silva does. However, yesterday we were screwed in that we had no other quality strikers.

Therefore going forward if Silva is injured again, I would simply have Tevez play Silva's role and have Dzeko and/or Balotelli up front.

I've heard from a decent source that we are keen on signing Iker Muniain from Bilbao, not quite like Silva but a creative and powerful forward, very young too.
The same source says we've pretty much signed Victor Luiz from espanyol for about £8 million.

I also think that when Dzeko signs and Balotelli is a regular in the side we will not be so reliant on Silva. Thus be a stronger side.

There are very few players of Silva's class anywhere in the world but there are top class midfielders out there who are a notch above Barry and Milner. These two are good solid players but if we want to challenge the likes of Barcelona in the next few years we will not do it with the likes of Barry and Milner (Barry's lack of pace is also a big problem at the highest level). If Mancini can find a couple of midfield stars in the summer I believe the title could be a distinct possibility next season.

Seconded. Said on the transfer forum if he is willing to sit on the bench a lot, could be the ideal backup for Silva. Brum have sat him on the bench a lot due to fitness issues but still looks good once he gets on, IMO. Contract with Barca is up next year so we could get him for around 2-5 million at the end of the season I think. Didn't we almost sign him on loan a year ago?

I kind of have to agree with this. Milner and Barry are both good enough for us, good enough to be in the squad. But if we want to really compete with the very best we need something a bit more. Perhaps just one player to play along side De Jong and Yaya in the biggest games, but after Dzeko's arrival, midfield would be the next area for improvement for me, not defence.

I was just about to say this myself. We've brought Gai Assulin to the Club, who looked an excelent prospect at Barca before injury sidelined his career.

He'd be perfect for the role, and at 19 should be looking to get in the 1st team relatively soon. He was promoted to the Barca 1st team last seson alongside Thiago Alcantara, Jonathan Dos Santos and Victor Vazquez - all of whom are getting game time for Barca's first team this season.

Surely Asssulin must be good enough to be on the bench as back up for Silva?
