i have 24,770 points and my 17 year old son has just short of 22,000 points so don't say younger fans cannot accumulate the points cos they can if they put the hard work in and don't pick their games some fans on here sound like rag fans " i can't ever get a ticket" , as for fans in Porto being shit what a load of shite, was in stadium and City fans outsang Chelsea until probably last 20 minutes or so, as for someone earlier saying younger fans aren't cut out as they were weeping just because they haven't suffered relegations doesn't mean they don't love the club as much as us older ones, they aren't used to the misery we had to endure , we were used to suffering, Saturday hurts but come August we go again and support our club no matter what

Like others have said, the minute we saw the teamsheet the nerves really started going, but the atmosphere started ok, after about 10 minutes weve all seen city enough to know what was coming and it just kind of died a bit. Yeah the age demographic was quite old but at the end of the day with only 6k tickets that was always going to happen, a lot of the young lads getting it going down the Ribeira would have got tickets in a normal year with a bigger allocation.

The papers talk about clashes between city and chelsea fans but most of it was city vs city just like a big day at Wembley. We took over the place as we should for our first final but surprised at how poor Chelseas turnout was

2007 since he was 3, back then he got a ticket for every away game i attended as kids used to qualify with a qualifying adult so that's how he got to most games then to build up his points, we had to go platinum when it started as we couldn't take the chance that we would get caught by others on points and that was the selling point

So it took your son 14 years of going to every away game to get those points and he was Fortunate enough to have someone pay for them...

so if you’d started going to away games as a teenager you’d be in your mid 30s to be able to have those points?

you also got platinum - which is rewarding money for points. Your post highlights what’s wrong with the system and was a terrible example of how to get points

most younger people cannot do what your son did and do not have access to the bigger games.

I can understand a fan moaning about Jamie fucking Pollock or losing to Bury and Stockport but this is taking moaning to a new level.
I paid £145 for my ticket and didn't get a flag like the other fans. I am going to write a strongly worded letter to City, an absolute disgrace. I demand a flag.

I find it hilarious that after spending a fortune and the thick end of a week being treated like plague victims the cunts that 'did their bit' by getting pissed up and watching on BT or a snide stream on Saturday night are berating you all for half arsed singing. Also, besides the points issue, is it really a surprise that most of those with both the disposable time and money to go to Portugal at the drop of a hat are older?

i remember getting , was it 100 points for City in the quarter finals of the FA cup v reading in 2011 at home !

Can't disagree with that...the problem was that the city fans were all over the place and not really together unlike the chelsea fans. I myself managed to get a ticket that the chelsea fans originally returned and was completely surrounded by the rentboys.

I think the players' performance set the tone, started badly and got steadily worse.

I would add the lineup to that. I was absolutely buzzing and we had a great time in the bus up to the stadium but when I took out my phone and saw that line up my heart sank because i knew exactly what was coming.

I was on a UEFA Ticket to the side of the Chavs.. despite UEFA being totally aware of my allegiance they put me (and other Blues) in a section that was simply an extension of the Chelsea stand.. We tried to keep the noise going but it was an uphill task

Do you remember the Liverpool match at home? We booed the jingle and within 1 minute of the kick off we had scored. It didn't seem to effect the team that night. Why are City fans so negative about other City fans ? Reading this thread shows we dont have the best fans, far from it. We are too old, we don't sing, we boo, etc etc eckfuckin cetera.

In any case unless you are actually in the stadium, there's no way of judging it from tv. I've often noticed that. I've been at matches where we were making a huge row, then got back and rewatched the match and it seems like a library.
The last point is vital. I used to go to Maine Rd as a teenager when I didn't have a pot to piss in. Indeed, the Kippax was mainly teenagers or people in their twenties, unless my memory's playing tricks on me. That was one of the things that was so great about it. I wouldn't be able to go to the Etihad, now.
