We really do have the best fans in the world.

Watched the game back for the first time last night (and probably the last).

Whilst I've said earlier in the thread I didn't think we were great, we were not as bad as the tv sound suggested. Its like they had turned our microphone off. Although admittedly there wasn't much to pick up after their goal anyway.

I don't think the performance was as bad as I thought it was either. Not great, but not quite as bad.

Just to give those 'talking' about points and totals a laugh, my points total ends in 5.... because we used to get 5 points for going to Hyde to watch matches. I met Zabman quite a few times over there. By heck sometimes finding somewhere to park was a nightmare, maybe I should have got 5 extra points for the long walk back to the car? :-) Plus you had to be sure to get them to let you go through the correct entry procedure to get the points. Sometimes they just took your money off you (think it was something like £1 or £2) and let you in the gate without getting your points. :-)

so your son who you probably took to games with for years has 22,000 points?

most people are not as fortunate to have parent pay for them. I’d like to know how a 19 year old who’s started going to games gets 22,000 points? Or has any chance at all of going to bigger games like the champions league final
. You say put the hard yards in, but that would take years. I can guarantee when you were younger you had access to the bigger games or atleast a chance of going.

certain games it’s very difficult to get tickets for unless you’ve been going for years, are loaded or know someone.

most people outside the ground appeared young, most inside were 60+. I think it’s clear we have an issue with younger fans unable to get access to tickets
Spot on.

It appears the Points Cartel assume anyone complaining about the system must just be out for a ticket for themselves.

It's not true.

I couldn't go to all the aways nowadays, but I went to pretty much all of them in my early 20s and it was brilliant.

It's the people in their early 20s now that I feel sorry for because unless they were fortunate enough to have parents who took them from being a kid, they've got no chance of breaking in to the Cartel.

It's just not good for the club to cut off the next generation of fans to serve only the Cartel until they die. There must surely be a middle ground solution.

I've left it alone in the back of my head and i will never watch it again. not just because of the loss
but its the worst I've see us play and created little and never work the keeper

but i was picking my brains last night ? all of last week i was on pins feeling the pressure. felt sick could not sleep moody and to a point fear set in. it was the old me (little old city) before a big city game. its been a long time that i have gone through that and it shows how far we have come. because the champions league final is the pinnacle

the one thing i left in the (little old city) camp was the fan in me ? so sorry to say this but i am now a glory hunter
and i want it back and more and more. us manchester city fans deserve the pinnacle and not just the once but the best at that level

I wouldn't describe the CL as the "pinnacle", rather it's the missing gem in the jewel-encrusted crown we're currently wearing.

Precisely. Lots of talk about the Premier League being the most coveted by Pep and afterwards by Khaldoun, and I completely agree. I’m genuinely not just saying it. When I look back on our struggles when United were dominating, it wasn’t European trophies I was envious of. Envy is probably the wrong word, but I dreamt of City just getting one domestic trophy. To get the stage where we are dominating domestically is the pinnacle. The Champions League is very nice and stops the “Champions of Europe, you’ll never sing that” boring chant we will doubtless have to endure next season (which is a small price to pay if we all get back into The Etihad again).

I’m fairly relaxed about the Champions League given the financial state of many European big clubs. There’s an air of inevitability about us winning it at some point. The Scum and Chelski were highly tried before eventually getting their hands on it.

Our fans are great on the whole but unfortunately we do still have our dickhead quota, who are always spoiling for a scrap

I was a regular at Hyde but I never knew we got points !!!! Who can I complain to, I demand my points.
Next you will be saying you got them for youth team games as well :-)

but City haven't cut them off! beginning of 2019/20 season fans age between 18-25 could apply for away tickets regardless of loyalty points, my lad who was 16 at the time had under 21,000 points but because he didn't fall into that age category he was unable to get a ticket as it never dropped to his criteria, the problem is not loyalty points its the amount of tickets supporters clubs get hold of.

its the pinnacle in league football for clubs and players nothing bigger in club football ?
bread and butter will always be the premier league

Agreed

Yep. It’s not the be all and end all but we do need to win it for a variety of reasons. I’m still gutted about Saturday - more gutted than I thought I’d be - and I think that’s down to the general feeling amongst the footballing world that we were expected to win and although I wasn’t too confident we’d do it, some of that expectation obviously rubbed off on me.
IMO we’ve underachieved in the CL over the past decade but other clubs have underachieved too. United for one. For all their success under Ferguson, 2 CLs in something like 20 campaigns is not a great return and I think he’s even admitted this himself. Pep gets a lot of stick for his CL record but he’s still won it twice and had way less seasons managing in it than Ferguson did. Arsenal under Wenger were also huge CL underachievers considering how many times they qualified for it. Chelsea’s record compares favourably to both.
