Wearing your City top in public

I was on holiday last week visiting relatives in Devon. We stayed the week in a lovely mobile home in Exmouth.
After a lovely day trip to nearby Sidmouth,I was just getting on bus for the return trip to Exmouth and the driver said to me " how will City manage for the rest of the season without Rodri" ?
I was gobsmacked that he knew that I was a City fan,as I very rarely wear any colours nowadays.
And then I realised that he could see a City key fob that I now use as a zip pull on a blue gilet I often wear.
And it was the old eagle emblem on the shield shaped key fob, so he must have guessed that I was an old time City fan ( and my FOC bus pass was also a clue no doubt).

A quick trip to the doctor's yesterday wore last season's away top...cream and maroon.
She called me in her first words I was at the Arsenal game last week.
I was in there fifteen minutes and I only wanted a new prescription.
I didn't mind all the questions about growing up in Manchester as she has those typical dark Spanish eyes and long dark hair rather fit. ;)

This being worried about wearing your City shirt is an alien concept to me. Growing up, every Saturday morning I would wear my City shirt in Stretford Arndale when helping to get the shopping in. Several other Blues would do likewise. This is a generation of Blues who showed our resistance throughout the rags taunting of our 35 (major) trophyless years. I rember seeing similar resistance in Urmston town centre. Always take pride in being a Blue. It’s a gift, often from your families and maybe God too.

Wear my City hats in Yaaarksherrr and have never had an issue but plenty of good banter.

They remember us from our lower league tours and huge away support.

Respect and no jealousy !!

I played against Hollins Hall Golf Club for Worsley Park Marriott in a Yorkshire v Lancashire match. Lancashire won
8-)

It was at the time when no Yorkshire teams were in the Premier League. During a lull in the conversations I said “it’s lovely to come over to Yorkshire and leave the pressures of the Premier League far behind”

My team were well impressed I manage to squeeze it in.

Not bad relations with Leeds these days oweing to their loathing of our neighbours and memories of us both being yo yo clubs. Always think they have more potential than any club in the country. Much of Yorkshire is polluted by rags ,makes no sense to me if you want to follow footy at OT why not cricket.

Lids still have some fucking nutters from the inner city and mining communities who still think its 1980s.

They think they're a big club because they sing loud and sell their away allocation.

Sheffield Wednesday are a bigger sleeping giant but for who the door has been locked !!
