Welcome Benjamin Mendy

the only guy that could suffer from that tweet is mendy, it will probably come to bite him in the ass when he inevitably make a mistake playing for us so I don't see why all prima donnas are out for him.
That is my one reservation with that sort of behaviour. It tends to bite you on the arse. But as he pretty much said "if it does, it does. All a bit of a laugh".

Pretty good perspective on it.

Gobsmacked that there are actually people agreeing with Gerrard on this. He's making a joke for god's sake. It's not insulting another player, it's nothing nasty or vindictive, it's a simple joke and I'm sure if Dunk has even the slightest fragment of humour in him, there's no way on this earth he'd take offence. He's just a bloke having a little giggle on social media while watching a game, like the millions of others. The obvious counter-argument is "But he's in a position of power! He should be more responsible!" but... what is there to be responsible about? He made a teensy tiny joke. He's not out there on the pitch calling other players n***** like certain pros or writing slimy articles about other teams like Scholes and the rest. In fact, he's doing an enormous service to fans of the game by showing that players are just humans and capable of having a laugh like the rest of us, rather than being these untouchable robots who always respond with the same pre-programmed lines in every bloody media appearance. I genuinely cannot believe he's coming under fire for this (and therefore might stop posting funny stuff or even get reprimanded by the staff, which would be f***ing unreal).

And then you've got Lamps and Gerrard saying "He shouldn't do it cause he'll make a mistake someday too!" Yeah well guess what? I reckon Mendy has enough bloody wherewithal to actually suck it up if he makes a mistake and people tweet about him! He's not a precious little snowflake and neither are any of the other players. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him respond to people and laugh at himself over it too, unless it was something serious that lost us a match. He's clearly a good-natured lad who isn't gonna get all moody and defensive if someone says something about him. What is the world coming to when people start taking offense over crap like this... It's literally impossible to do almost anything these days without someone tooting the "This has gone too far!" horn.

Unbelievable. Honestly. Wow. And to think there are people going against him, even on here... blows my mind. We all know exactly what the internet is like, exactly what the grounds are like, people scream and shout the worst obscenities known to man at every player on the pitch and write the most disgusting things about them online, but all of that is fine and dandy because we're all nobodies, but as soon as a player makes the tiniest, most harmless joke I think I've ever seen, he gets attacked. :| We should be encouraging this sort of stuff! Nobody wants to get to a point where players are just attacking each other, obviously, but a guy showing a bit of personality for once is such a refreshing thing in this world of "The most important thing is we got the 3 points." "The team did well today." "Yeah it felt good to score a goal but the important thing is the team did well and we got the 3 points." I'd LOVE to see more players actually being honest, sharing a little bit of who they are, interacting with the fans, proving that they're humans and they sit around and have fun in front of the games with their mates just like the rest of us. At a time when PL football seems more exclusive than ever, it'd be nice to see that these 50 million pound players are, at their core, just people too.

It was a fantastic bullet header by our Dunky. The shame of it was that I wish it had been in the first half then plucky, little Brighton would have been 1-0 up. :)

Anyone know when Mendy is due back? Heard he could play vs Everton..?!

I don't do Twitter and don't find his post as seen on here particularly funny but how exactly does it offend Steve G?
It could I suppose offend the player involved, Brighton the club or their fans if they were particularly sensitive, but as far as I can tell its just a couple of ex player's.

Defending a racist is offensive, hitting someone in a pub is more than offensive, and to be fair taking the piss when your slip cost your team the title just after you have a huddle and say let's not slip up could be considered offensive. But really is this worth any media attention.
