We've seen how vulnerable we are to counter attacks and how Eddie hardly ever came to the rescue. Therefore it makes sense to get a goalkeeper who can make a save every now and again.

Did you not watch the game on Sunday, after the penalty we had no possession because Trafford was kicking it long & it was coming straight back

Reminds me of the Yaya and Dinho deals. Experienced players who can hit the ground running and make an invaluable contribution for about 4 or 5 years before burning out. We need more of these type of deals

Not so.

As soon as he attempts numerous 100% foreseeable risky/bad passes - and can't sweep and otherwise obviously isn't a fit for our system - then... I'll post that I told you so.

That said, I think that Donnarumma in the right side, playing to his strengths, at least on current form, is one of the top keepers in the world. But he's now our #1 and we absolutely play in a manner which highlights his weaknesses.

Which leads me to this:
Why the fuck did we sign him?
Why the fuck did he agree to be in our side?

Donnarumma isn’t Ederson (no keeper is!) but stats show that he’s at least Allison level with his feet - and no one here would say no to Allison.

Not only that but Donnarumma is a better goalkeeper around than most as well. Even better than Allison at shot stopping.

I don’t know - maybe you’d rather we put Rico Lewis in goal? He’s a decent passer after all.

The few times I have watched him he's made some amazing saves. Until Pep changes from defending with a high line, I'm concerned that he'll be exposed as any goalkeeper would be, but hopefully his shot stopping will negate some of the sloppy goals we give away

Yes, his long kicking was pretty poor, aimless and only went to the opposition most of the time ..... but his game in general was very good, two or three top saves, and his handling of the ball was fine.
 
Let's hope this Gigi has a more beneficial effect for their club than the last gee-gee
