And besides, "multiple reports" said the same thing about Patrick Roberts, who actually did go on to make a grand total of three sub appearances for City. So, erm, I guess he proved me wrong! Yep, makes good business sense. We buy him for £14m, loan him out a couple of times, raise his value to about £25m, ship him off to Celta Vigo in 2024 and Bob's yer uncle.

He paints a pretty clear picture, that some people at City think Alvarez is in our first team plans for next season, while some other people at City clearly don't. The fact that the latter camp even exists is a sign that his future at City isn't as cut and dry as some people on here would have you believe. If we're signing a 22 year old and still can't make our minds up as to whether he's good enough for the first team, why are we bothering? The answer is that he'll be worth a tidy extra £10-15m to us in a couple of years.
