Deary me!
Perfectly reasonable assumption to make given that:

1) at £14m he's only slightly more expensive than the previous most expensive CFG signings
2) we very rarely loan out players we think have a chance of making it with us- even Zinchenko was more of a happy accident
3) South American leagues are prime hunting grounds for players we like to buy for profit

I've got no idea why people are acting like they know for a fact this guy is going to be different when they first heard of him a week ago.

If he's 22 and we don't think he can get playing time over Grealish, Jesus, Foden or Sterling, none of whom are very good at all as a central striker, how good can this guy really be?
Do we not think he could get playing time? News to me.

Julian Alvarez's agent, Fernando Hidalgo: "I heard many who said that the City Football Group bought him, but no. Julián was not going to accept it. If he left River, it was for something better. The negotiation went from club to club." [via @ESPNFutbolArg]
Right, but this doesn't mean anything. And if we're just throwing tweets at each other.

He have same amount of transfer value when we signed Torres from Valencia, too expensive to be CFG signing. A dumb move for highly rated player have been recently winning south american best player at age 21 last season.
Not really. This gets him to Europe. He'll be playing in Spain in 3 years.

Bear in mind we paid £12m for Patrick Roberts in 2015.

He posted.

'Will be surprised if he ever pulls on a City shirt'

I rest my case.
