James was one of the few to come from that WC with his reputation intact. Age is against him, but there's no harm in having him as backup. If Gerrard or Lampard decided to quit tommorow, then England will be in a mess, because there are no English midfielders that are better than they are. Terry is probably England's best defender at the minute. Ferdinand can still do a job, so yeah, I think England will be far worse off without them.

Cant really remember a time i have said anything good about Gerrad or Lampard for England they cant play together, not just in midfield but in same team. Ferdinand looked awful against Mexico like a man that had lost 3 yards of pace. Terry didnt have a fucking clue what to do when Germany attacked during WC James is just well passed it and was out of posistion for 2 of the germany goals needs to be moved out

We need to get the younger ones in and get them used to international level, we cant keep playing the same useless cunts because they play well for there clubs. It has always been the case and Cappelo said as much in that interview he did

Lampard and Gerrard may not play well all the time in the same midfield, but what suggests that a midfield of 2 untried young players will do better? I can't think of a young English goalscoring midfielder like Lampard, or an all action type like Gerrard. Just playing one of the two could work.

Playing youngsters isn't necessarily going to solve all Englands problems. Too many people are looking at Germany, and think if we do the same, we'll suddenly be as good as they are. Its doesnt work like that. A chunk of those German players have been playing together since U-17 level, they been together for years, and have a good relationship with each other. England's youth teams chop and change regularly, one minute Walcott's deemed to be good enough for senior level, next minute back into the U-21's, same with Agbonlahor, Lennon, etc. Also our youngsters aren't as good as Germany's. I think only Milner and Hart were the only players who featured in the 2009 U-21 Euro's were in the England team. Compare that with the number Germany had.

Not saying they be better or do better but its time for someone to have the bollocks to stand up and go, i know they the best but they dont and pretty much never have done it for England.

I know are youngsters aint that good yet and alot are really young but the time comes where its just time to say you had your chance and didnt take it and none of this so called GOLDEN generation have ever shown what they capable of in a England shirt and now its too late, they were old for this WC they be even older by 2012 and ancient by 2014 so we need to get the youngsters in or we just completly kill the England team and it will take us even longer to just do the right thing and move on. Holland and Germany although they have better young players this stems from embarrasment from the old guard in a competiton and them getting kicked out regardless of reputation, Euro2000 is the reason there are a great number of fantastic young players in Germany now
