Do you fully understand what part a full stop plays in a statement?

It was the same point. It is quite obvious. Never mind him playing with Anelka etc

Re: We'll miss you sweep....

I think the word legend is used far too lightly these days. Very few footballers should be classed as a 'legend'. Obviously different people might see it differently. To me winning a trophy doesn't make you a legend, not even scoring 50 goals in two seasons does. It makes you a very good player but not a legend.

A legend is somebody who does this season in, season out for about 15 years consistently being branded as one of the top players in the world. You have two bands of 'legends', club legends and global legends, and the bar should be equally high so that only one player per generation might be considered one. A legend is somebody who you'll still be talking about in 50 years time when many people have come and won trophies and scored goals for us.

Global legends are the likes of Maradona, Eusebio, Beckenbauer and more recently Figo and Zidane.

Club legends are the likes of Colin Bell, Frank Swift, Bert Trautmann and Billy Meredith.

Tevez? Tevez has a very long way to go before he'll even come close to being a club legend for me. Maybe if he's still here in 5 years time and he's scored over 150 goals and won us 10 trophies. Shaun Wright-Phillips? He has the commitment and he's definitely a fan favourite, but for a long time at this club he's been far from our most vital asset. You wouldn't have ever considered selling the likes of Bell or Trautmann, they were that important to us. I like Shaun but in terms of achievement he can't be put alongside legends, just alongside the long list of City servants who deserve our undying respect.

When did he play in the same side as Samaras? Typical of the knockers not knowing their stuff.
City wanted him to go as we needed the money.

He didn't actually say he played with him, just mentioned him as an example of former players that we have moved on from.

SWP has done a lot of things for us - 2 goals at Wolves spring to mind in our promotion under KK. Although I joined this forum recently (a barometer for some as to whether we are "porper" supporters or not), I am an "old" fan, who remembers the dark days too.

SWP was a breath of fresh air, a City academy product, who has defied his physical shortcomings with some amazing displays. A player that fans can truly relate with; always giving 100%.

However, with our new found money, he has fallen down the pecking order and Mancini doesn't rate him highly enough for him to get in the first XI. Adam Johnson doesn't get much of a look in, so what message does that send to SWP now?

He is in a quandry, I would suggest, as I truly belive that he does love the club. However, if he stays, does that now make him a burden FFP-wise? If he decides to stay, I hope he trains hard and keeps his head down and hopes for 20 minutes here and there.

I for one would say thanks for the memories SWP, you have been a privilege to watch, but our system no longer accomodates genuine wingers and with that, you should move, get one more big pay deal and fight for your position on the wing for England. There are few better than you in that position.

Remember it well, think it was the good friday when the queens mother died that year.

Other memories, scored away at Millwall in the 3-2 win, Slalom goal at Villa, scored two screamers against Palace and Southampton at home, His goal at Highbury, Obvs the one against them lot.

If you read my ALL my points you should get the message that I love the little falla. We seem however to be famous for the number of players we have seen graduate from out Acadamy. Where are they all now? I'll tell you where they are, QPR, Leicester, Burnley, Palace and they are just the good ones.
Sweep had a great pre season but that is just what it was, a pre season. Rather than just knock my posts just give me a solid argument why he should be either in our starting 11 or even on our bench.

We all have different definitions of legend, mate.
Don't act like you're making a statement from an irrefutable position of fact then. Your tone of 'I guess Tevez isn't a City legend either then' in which the sarcastic 'guess' and the 'then' imply it's almost stupid to think otherwise. It's not stupid at all to think Tevez, the man who dispensed of two City scarves whilst wearing his Argentinian flag as he collected our first cup in thirty-five years, and has generally acted like a twat off the pitch, is NOT a legend.

Spot on Skash, baby.

A legend would not have disrespected the thing we love the way Tevez has.

Great player, glad he's staying, but legend?

I think the expression these days is - pffft

City legends for me off the top of my head-

Paul
Trautmann
Book
Bell
Lee
Summerbee
Doyle
Rosler
Goater
Dickov

I'm sure there are a few more, but in terms of a place in City fans' hearts Tevez isn't even close to that lot.

Sorry, but these are cult heroes, not legends.

Dickov fucking loved scoring against City for Leicester. Which is more of an insult than Tevez not wearing a scarf on the way upto lifting a trophy.

All in my opinion of course.

So hang on, you seriously think a competitive professional like Dickov scoring against us while playing for another club after we had discarded him is more of an insult to our club than our own Captain discarding our own club's scarves on his way to pick up our first trophy in 35 years?

Seriously?
