Is it only me that thought "we'll sing what we want" was simply taking the piss out of the rags singing "we'll do what we want".

When they "do what they want" innocent folk get hurt - see Wembley - when we sing "we'll sing what we want" nobody gets hurt.

From where I sit I heard it sang twice, and one rendition of the Yaya in united's net ditty. There were however many renditions of "yaaahaaa yaaahaaa yaaahaaa Toureeeee", a far better song imho.

I'm one that's against the use of the M word in our songs, but I can't for the life of me see why singing "we'll sing what we want" can upset anyone. It was typically ironic City fans, and that's what we're known for.

I'm surprised there isn't a thread moaning about us singing "I'm forever blowing bubbles" at the West Ham fans, how dare we be ironic and sing their song ?

from what i heard in the south stand in the concourse at half time it was...... "we'll sing what we want, we'll sing what we waaaannnnt, you munich bastards, we'll sing what we want"

then a rendition of "who's that dying on the runway".

i felt sick.

Where you sick then ? If so what was the sick any colour or texture ?

MCFC OK

I'm not a fan of Munich songs or the use of the word to refer to United fans. I think it makes us look small time and bitter. But in the light of what's gone on this week and the "Do what we want" sung by the rags, I think this is quite funny.

heard a young child shout 'munichs' in the NS somewhere behind me after Arsenal's win was read out. Encouraging.

And the sad thing is that these people who you call 'scum' etc. are the only ones that get songs going (M*nich or not) so effectively you'll be killing the small percentage of atmosphere we have.

This wasn't a referal to the actual Munich chants but the fact that some of fans chose to 'do what they want' rather than respect the wishes of the club, former players, the manager and as a consequence keep our club in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

City dealt with the negative press we were getting earlier in the season not by threatening the writers with legal action, but by inviting some of our biggest critics to the club and showing them what was happening. They dealt with these problems swiftly and effectively and we haven't seen much, if anything, other than just match reports and opinions about how we play or how our players are doing. The club sent out a massive statement by doing this. Rather than some crassy threats of legal action and banning the offending writers and presenters the club showed what is all about and calmly dealt with it - and how effective was it? Nothing of any note since. Until this.

The owners and their main representative, Khaldoun, will not be happy about the way we are now being potrayed. After pouring hundreds of millions into the club, turning it around and rapidly becoming one of the most respected clubs in the country I doubt they will allow this minority to drag them down. Whist no big name in the football world, Ian Holloway, even after losing to us at COMS, summed the experience up in one word - Class. He couldn't get over how well he and his team were treated from the moment they arrived to the moment they left. Pure class - that is what our owners will want to be known for and not as a club that sits back and lets its fans taunt their neighbours about an event in which so many people died.

As I posted last week after the Blackburn game expect to see threads complaining about being evicted for singing Munich songs.
