Wenger wants to change offside

Don't understand why this isn't straight forward? It's immaterial where you set the line, his front toe, his rear heel, whatever physical extremity near or far, there will always be a point of uncertainty where a notional line is drawn ie NOT CLEAR AND OBVIOUS. In which case, if it NOT CLEAR AND OBVIOUS, the benefit of doubt goes to the attacking player! Perhaps there needs to be a "clear and obvious zone", say all agree at 50mm (2" in old money).

But then all you've done is create ANOTHER contentious zone, what if it's just on the edge of the 50mm?? There will still be howls if bias and cheating.

The solution? Fuck VAR off COMPLETELY! Take the game back to as it was.

And this is from somebody, who before this season, firmly believed technology in football was a must. How wrong was I? It's been an unmitigated disaster!

Keep goal line tech tho, that's useful.

Would be a disaster.

Say goodbye to high lines and offside traps, hello to flat back 10s every game, even more so than now.

Linesman will never give offside. Loads more VAR interference and checks.

Bin.

Most of this is right but VAR must stay, WHO uses it must go. If an independent company used it performance would rise hugely, if then VAR was used to assess officials performance accuracy would rise again, the lines on the tv are just the FA muddying the water and not CLEAR AND OBVIOUS which is VAR catching someone cheating

Agree with him, it would help the VAR issues as currently it is just chalking goals off. It would simplify things and give a little more to the forwards which would be a good thing.

Needs simplifying but I’m not sure his suggestion does that enough.

Scrap the offside rule and bring back goal hanging!
