We're on our own

Just like Hughes was accused of doing it, Mancini has also now failed to take advantage as far as i'm concerned. We had 2 games in hand, and if you want to finish 4th you HAVE to win those games. Saying 'a draw at Stoke', (as i've heard loads on here), is a good result is not thr mentality to have if 4th is to be obtained. We had a real chance to put a cushion between us and 5-7th, but we failed. I think this proves we are not ready as a club or as a team to finish that high just yet.

A draw at Stoke is a good result, if yer fending off relegation. If you have pretensions to Euro footy then you have to take three, and you should have three at home against a poor BinDippers side. I think we are going to bounce around till the end of the season. Only hope we don't end up rueing the dropped points where other 'pretenders' have won comfortably.

A draw at Stoke isn't a great, or even good result. But neither does it define whether we are good enough for a top 4 spot or not.

A loss at Hull is probably a bit more defining tho!
But you're right, its far from settled and the reality is that with most of the top 7 still to play us, the ball is still firmly in our court.

However, breath is not being held on this one!

Of the top seven in the Premier League we are the only team with only league points to fight for as all the others have at least one other competition to play for.

Now is the time for us to push forward.

Unfortunately I personally don't think the Manager, Coaching Staff and Players are capable of pulling it off.

exactly why we should have bought in jan window, 4th was there for the taking and we have just blown it.

Our run in is the hardest of the four teams battling for 4th place with 8 of our twelve games against teams in the top half of the table.

Liverpool and Villa by comparison only have 4 matches against teams in the top half and Spurs have 5.

I suspect 4th place is well out of our reach.

But you have to worry when you have three chances to beat them and don't.

IMO spurs has the harder run in and Villa has the easiest.

have to agree with this, sad to say i think well finish 7th if you look at our run in.

Quickly done up stats, so apologies if they are wrong.

Liverpool have dropped 12 points against teams from the bottom half of the table.
Aston Villa have dropped 15 points, Spurs 13. We've dropped 13 as well.

Still plenty to play for.

i think our season propsects will be defined by what happens during the 2 weeks between Chelsea & sunderland matches, Mancini will have a long period with most of the squad without having to prepare for specific games which have been coming thick and fast since hes been here. If this goes well and the squad starts to look cohesive going forward then we have a very exciting run in tio look forward to, if he persists with 24 minute handball sesssion I expect the season to fizzle out into a battle to qualify for europa league.
