West Brom (A) Pre-Match Thread

City will beat West Brom comfortably on Saturday, as we have in recent seasons, an early goal is the key, after that we will batter em...! Anyone who thinks differently can go back to the, Rags post EFL Cup thread, where some of the pessimism on display there is fookin breathtaking..!

I agree that on paper we should better them but there have been plenty games this season already whereby we should have gotten an early goal and then gone on to batter a team. In the real world, it doesn't always go like we want. Goals at the moment for us are hens teeth.

Think we are going to smash them on Saturday. It's going to be 2 fingers up at all the doubters come 5pm on Saturday.

We're on a bit of a bad run, we've just lost to United, fielded a weakened team in the process and all roads to lead to Pep and the players knowing the rot has to stop before it escalates into a crisis.

Best team available should play, win it in the first hour, couple of tactical subs and then we go again V's Barcelona (they're having it as well by the way).

.............................Bravo

Maffeo.........Stones............Otamendi............Kolarov
(or Kompany) (or Clichy)
.......................Ferndnandinho

Sterling.......De-Bruyne.......Silva...............Nolito
(if fit)
...........................Aguero

It'll be our 7th away game from the last 9.

Let's hope we stay clear of windy and wet conditions with an offside goal and an own goal (Celtic), another own goal (Spurs), we score a penalty if we are awarded one of two, with their goallie not having the once of a lifetime performance (Everton), our players don't slip at the wrong moment and Bravo stays on the pitch (Barcelona), Stones won't repeat a no-look backpass (Southampton), and we play our best possible 11 (rags).

If it does, I think we'll be ok and take 3 points with us.

As you point out we need a bit of luck to go our way for a change.
It's no surprise that in the last 6 games we've conceded the first goal and as we're a team adjusting our style of play we've struggled to turn these games around albeit drawing 3 of them.
As we're a front foot team scoring the first goal dramatically alters things in our favour as more space is available for us as the first 10 games proved.
I'm sure as the team become more accustomed to the style the amount of individual errors will decrease and hopefully result in us having to chase so many matches.
Still think we're gonna dish out some hidings once things settle down.

;-) we are City fans, of course it doesn't go like we want mate, I still get nervous when we are 4-0 up... Lets just hope Saturday is a turning point and we can steady the ship ..... AND GO AGAIN.. To coin a phrase..

Lets face it the way we are performing at this moment in time we will be lucky to come away with anything.

If Pep is as good as we are led to believe (jury still out) then he should be able to conjure up a performance against the Baggies, but I am not at all confident he will.

I hope Kompany is fit as he has to play as i cant trust Stones and Ottamendi as a pairing there just a mistake written all over them. I think Kompany and Stones would be a good pairing but I think Stones condfidence is a bit iffy at the moment.

I wouldnt mind seeing us play a 3-5-2 system there if all is fit.

Bravo
Kompany , Stones , Ottamendi
Sane , Fernadhino , Gundogan , Silva , Sterling
Kun , Nacho.

Forget this back 3 business and go 4-4-2 like last night. We've got Sane, Nolito, Sterling and Navas to choose from and gives us two up top and an extra defender.

Confidence in our strike force is lacking at the moment,we can't keep missing chances like we have,we won't get many against this lot, really don't know what to expect

I was uber confident until I saw Lee Mason Is the bastard in the middle.

It should be a regulation win against the club shop cloggers, now...I'm not so sure.
