West Brom (h) post-match thread

And there's the difference.

The Scouse c**ts get another late winner, while we squander 2 late winning opportunities late night.

I still believe that Pep is the best coach for City..
He worked on the defense and I believe that we are seeing the best city defense in our history..
We just need to start scoring from the chances that we create

A goal from a deflection and another one from a corner..
I guess we need to learn how to be as lucky as them..

I don’t think it’s luck mate 76% of possession and score with a last minute header , similar to us last night except we had two last minute headers, but failed to score with .
just saying pal.

Nor does a random billy big bollocks intervention defending some vacuous rah-rah post criticising others.

Are you his mum?
Garry’s right. Just because you post more doesn’t give you a right to put down fellow blues who are contributing to the forum whether you agree with their comments or not. Some people prefer to read, absorb and stay silent, whereas others prefer to spout off, neither being more of a supporter than the other. If you disagree, then carry on being post counting and checking how many likes you get if that is what is important to you.

Sniff sniff

Don't have time for a long debate but I don't think most of that is a solution to the issue or indeed the problem.

The two man pivot is not bollocks. Pep has arrived there for a very specific reason and that side of things seems to be working but I'm afraid we need to see more of it in the near term. Ultimately, we will probably need to find a new DM to add tot the squad who is more like Dinho, ideally a cross of the right elements of Dinho and Yaya but not sure that even exists!

One pivot might help us add creativity to the line-up but if the players getting on the end of chances don't finish, it won't help a lot and the final third is crowded enough with the way our opponents play.

An aerially commanding centre forward would give us a different option but they need to be more than that. There's perhaps one player that the club need to break the bank for but will they?

I still believe that if we continue to defend as we have been, we will begin to rack up wins. Last night as disappointing as the performance was, our failure to keep a clean sheet was down to an unlucky o.g.
"Pep has arrived there for a very specific reason and that side of things seems to be working but I'm afraid we need to see more of it in the near term".

I think pep has arrived there because of a few reasons mate, and I disagree about it working. One reason is because Rodri flatters to deceive with those neat passing stats of close range sideways and backwards easy options, and he's too slow to cut out danger when teams spring an attack. His tackling is ok, nothing special and he's ok in the air. But he doesn't drive forward enough and lays the ball off instead far too often. I think he's been a poor buy and not suited to this league and I can't see him adapting as he's too casual and laid back. Gundogan as a anchorman(6) is also suspect. His main problem is he's frightened of putting a tackle in most of the time for fear of getting another bad injury. He's still a bit of an enigma but still has no pace to punish teams when he's playing well. He's another who isn't good enough and won't further improve us. Both players cannot deputise as a DM for an ageing 35 year old anywhere near the level of Dinho. We were led to believe Rodri was the answer but it doesn't look like it so far.

This two man anchorman(pivot) is stifling creativity when we play treacle toes and Gunneddog together there. He's devising a system not to lose and it is piss poor to watch two plodders together.

And you're absolutely right about a replacement for Fernandinho because neither treacle toes trotter or Gundo are the answer, either played together or as a single pervert, I'm not saying pivot again; )... We may already have the(eventual) solution in young Doyle but he isn't getting much of a sniff, certainly not in league games. It makes me wonder if his time will come with Pep preferring to buy ready made talent to improve on. I also think Stones could make a solid DM if he keeps progressing as he is.

One anchorman is enough I think and whoever is selected needs to form better communication with our Brazilian Braveheart because it's transpiring to be that Eddie is becoming too rash and hot-headed in not quite knowing when to stay on his line or race out like a madman. I like Ederson but he definitely needs to improve on his positional awareness, decision making, and shot stopping.

It's imperative we sign a no nonsense tough tackling LB because Mendy has shown that he is not the answer, nor are Zinco Cancelo or Ake.

We are not scoring enough chances created, it's as simple as that. And the most frustrating thing is too many players in the side are getting played week after week and not doing enough to merit starting. We have several alternative options sat on the bench or not in the match day squad but Pep being Pep stubbornly keeps playing his favourites.

A agree we need to spend big to sign a striker, either Haland or Mbappe are the right age with world class attributes. I'd break the bank for Alfie's lad and he'd probably sign if we bid the right money.

I think Pep should have given Delap another chance soon after scoring on his debut, especially with Aguero and Jesus out injured at same time. He is one for the future but if he's not getting minutes his future may lie elsewhere, Sancho a good example of that.

There are many things that Pep needs to address to get us consistently winning again and I'm not talking boring scrappy wins either. We have managed to go from a team that breaks from the back with pace intuitively knowing who is where with slick one touch passing, to a side that is fast becoming like the teams we were sweeping aside with ease. Not only that, I don't see us harrying teams to nick the ball like we did.

The bar Pep been raised has been set so high it's almost impossible to maintain that level. Two magnificent seasons amassing 198 points several records broken and jaw-dropping exciting football could not be maintained, and our decline from those giddy heights is alarming, especially with the squad we have at our disposal.

No manager in world football is infallible to getting sacked and if results don't start picking up soon then Pep will be under real pressure. I don't want to come across doom and gloom, just being realistic, but imagine if we lost all games before the January transfer window. I don't want to think of it either, but if that happens he may not be even here to survive it.

Let's all hope results start improving and we back to winning ways because PL managers cannot rest on their laurels no matter what they have previously acheived in the game. We shall soon see whether Pep is up to the task of rebuilding or not ...
