West Brom (h) post-match thread

I think Pep was desperate to get Mendy, who had fallen apart, off the pitch and switching Cancelo to the left was the only way to do it. I don't think we'll see Mendy in a City shirt again.

How many times have we said we'll never see Mendy in a City shirt again.. after another one of his catastrophic performances..

He always pops up to be given another chance

How low we have fallen that only getting a point against us means you get sacked...

Ironically it seems that last nights result was amongst their best performances of the season, one in which their results haven't been a true representation of the football they have played.

Fucking barmy decision by the bell ends running that club.

It's sub-standard from so many players.

I'm pleased for Gundo, I have given him pelters for so many performances in recent seasons but it is now abundantly clear he isn't the problem, it's that big lump next to him.

Gundo is the only risk taker in the team outside of Kev, with arguably more end product this season.

He looks leaner than I have seen him before and has been out best player this season.

You can see why Pep continues to rotate Foden, he doesn't impact games half as much starting, same goes for Jesus.

I'm just frustrated as in the half-time matchday forum I said the obvious was to take Mendy off and put Walker in, yet Pep left it too late.

For me, to countenance that City have paid £230m for Mendy, Cancelo, Rodri and Mahrez, is a failure that cannot be easily excused.

Still confident we will be there at the business end but a striker in January wouldn't go amiss!

What striker would be available in January?

Please no one say Messi.

Feels like a move Juventus did with Ronaldo, get a megastar in to paper over the cracks.

The reason we played well in champions league was because we had a crap group our academy team would have probably won that group

Transition into what though?

Doesn't seem a plan.

The clubs recruitment, besides Dias, has been dire.
Transition is usually when you have done your business in the transfer market and bedding players in. Chelsea are in transition, we most certainly are not.

We were that bad that West brom have sacked their manager because he could only get a draw against us

I think Pep was seething at him last night. Mendy is now well below PL level. On last night's performance you would fear for his future career. To be fair he has suffered two career-threatening injuries and surely Mendy himself must know the game is up.

The way things are at the moment we might as well have a throw of the dice on Messi. It could backfire but at least it would make the second half of this dire season more interesting.

To be honest, judging by his crap performances for god knows how long, Pep should have known too and shouldn’t be playing him. It’s quite incredible that we have spent £150m on full backs and we still don’t have a left back who is any good.

Look at how we used to play.

Fast, accurate passing and, importantly, fast movement off the ball.

What the hell has happened to this team?

Look at how many men are in the box, and how much further they pushed up compared to last match. Hardly the same.
