I recon Laporte hasn’t recovered from Covid fully. He looked legless v spuds. And wasn’t really tested v Marseille. This happens to some people who’ve had it eg lack of energy (long Covid) This is the only reason I can think of as he’s hardly got a reputation as a trouble maker or bad trainer
Agreed, I'd be very surprised if any top class sportsman fully recovers within a month or two after Covid. It must take its toll in the short term regardless of whether a player says they feel fine.

Think Pep has been reading the Inverted Wingers thread. Will we see Mendy and Foden on the left and Cancelo and Sterling on the right?
I’m just happy for ANY FUCKER to read any of my threads so I doubt Pep would have. And if he did he certainly won’t be taking advice from me. Nice thought though ;)

Bernardo played well against Sheffield United, Olympiacos and Porto but then found himself out of the team unable to build on that to get form out of individual performances straight/soon after.
I don't think he was impactful in any of the games. He just played okay. But I am sure he will get a chance now and then. Season is long.

Delighted to see Foden in there.

Surprised that Stones is left out and even more surprised it’s for Ake and not Laporte.

Disappointed that Sterling has been given yet another chance. He was atrocious at the weekend and should be on the bench.
Totally disagree about Sterling mate. City with an in form Sterling is a different beast, so if it takes games v crap opponents to do it then it’s worth it
