Think the squad selection's about right. First game of season, away at West Brom, bit too risky for new lads imo. If Bony can hit the ground running it'll be a good confidence booster for the season ahead. Would expect Kun to have last half hour or so.

According to performances in preseason both Denayer and Icheanacho should start. Whatever... as long as we win l don't give a sht who is starting.

I would have liked to have seen Denayer given a start tonight alongside Mangala. I fully
expect to get slaughtered for suggesting leaving Vinnie out. But Mangala seemed to play his best football last season when he partnered MdM. And it's plain to see that Vinnie has been struggling for form for the last 12-18 months. Tonight would have been perfect to try that new pairing, at least in the first half. See how it went, if they were struggling, bring Vinnie on for the second half. And Denayer had a very good pre-season. If we want to see academy players breaking through into the first team, we need to give them a go.

Genuinely surprised at how many thought Iheanacho would start.

Away from home, first game of the season, against a manager who hates us with a passion. Plus Bony is the better player, more experienced, why wouldn't he start? Some need to temper their expectations and calm down.
