Going to east coast next week starting at Berwick on Tweed travelling around for 5 days.
Never been further than lakes on west coast but looking at Oban/ Fort William .
Anyone been and can give some recommendations?

Stunning scenery on the West Coast.
We go Scotland all the time now as we fell in love with it after first going in 2017. Stayed in 24 different cottages since, in every corner of it. Even named our male German Shepherd Oban after 1 holiday we had up there.
Our favourite place is Perthshire, for the mountains and forests.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
The east coast better weather.

Fyne Ales brewery and tap, North of Arrochar. A couple more North side of Loch Lomond and one on the way to Fort William and one in Fort William.

Three of the most stunning railway journeys in the UK:

Glasgow-Fort William
Fort William-Mallaig
Inverness-Kyle of Lochalsh.

The western side of Scotland is fantastic for scenery. BTW apart from the above, Galloway is amazing and tends to get overlooked. In fairness, it's an incredibly beautiful country once you get away from the industrialised central belt.

Out of the two I much prefer Oban to Fort bill, it still has lingering fishing town vibes. The trip from there over to Mull is definitely worth it if you have time.

Other than that, to be honest you can't really go wrong with the scenery. My favourite part is further north, from Torridon to Ullapool and then Assynt

Only problem being the old bone rattlers 156 class trains.

Should have named him Deep-fried Mars Bar.
