The western side of Scotland is fantastic for scenery. BTW apart from the above, Galloway is amazing and tends to get overlooked. In fairness, it's an incredibly beautiful country once you get away from the industrialised central belt.

In the summer you can travel on a historic steam hauled train between Fort William and Mallaig. (Check dates/times.).Only problem being the old bone rattlers 156 class trains.
