It will be interesting if Pellegrini gets the gig. Some of the pieces are in place for how he wants to play. He could pair Carroll and Arnautovic as his 2 strikers in a 4-4-2. Most likely use Lanzini as an inverted winger ala our Dave or Nasri. Probably needs 1 more creative midfielder though. Bernard from Shaktar would be perfect. Heard he was going to China though if I'm not mistaken.

Can’t recall City ever ‘boring’ under Pellegrini. Seems to go with attacking formations whenever he’s been also.

Think those two (non) performances against Real Madrid did much to taint his memory, unfortunately. Always thought he encouraged attacking play, just that he did so down increasingly predictable avenues and at decreasingly slowing speeds.
