West Ham 2018/19

If you've taken any offence to anything I've said none was intentionally directed at you personally

Anyway, apologies to any Blue Mooners/admin for banging on about West Ham on your very good and most welcoming site (mostly!) but I'll try to address your points.

Firstly we didn't have to move to progress and certainly not to that thing. That is not progress (Juventus anyone?) Yes we might have 'attendance figures' of 60000 but there is no way there is 60000 bums on seats, absolutely none. You mention the increased revenue that the stadium brings. Sullivan himself admitted last year that we make an extra £11mill per season. That is certainly not 'next level' stuff.

Undoubtedly for a perennial underachieving shitfest of an outfit we have a tremendous support, unbelievably so, however the place is packed out with tourists, Newham borough freebies, Thomas Cook packages and shed loads of STs bought by supporters of other clubs. Personally I know 2 dippers, 1 rag, 3 Red Sea pedestrians and 1 Chelsea who have STs at the bowl. We are diluting real fans which I think Brady secretly wants.

We had planning permission (which eventually lapsed) to extend the chicken run and make the ground 45k which to be honest would be perfect for us. When we reapplied we were told it was turned down due to encroachment on the East Ham bus garage. All bullsh1t from the board again. How? The bus garage was knocked down in 2016. But of course we know the real reason. The board would have to put hands in pockets for the build.

You take a bit of a swipe at Plaistow which leaves a bad taste IMO. It was our home for over 100 years. Whilst it wasn't the most salubrious area of London and the demographic has changed beyond recognition it was still our 'manor'. It might have been what you may call a sh1thole but it was OUR 'sh1thole' and I was fiercely defensive of it.

You mention pie and mash. Going to Nathan's WAS match day, as was a 9am fry up before the pub and bookies. All two mins tops from the ground. We have nothing like that now. No resemblance to the match day 'experience' of old. I can't comment on half time beers. I'm usually so smashed from my morning session I need the 90 min break.

The 'Real West Ham Fans Group' ended badly but had all the best intentions. The board knew how much clout this group had and personally I believe those shenanigans DID have an effect on what transpired over the summer. This group grew way too quickly for them and it ended up being a sh1tshow. However I will never slag them off. I'm sure you know who was behind the group and those personnel helped me out on many away trips when lets just say things got a bit on top. So I cannot dig out the 'ex ICF dickheads' as you call them.

Anyway I'll leave it there as I could bang on all day. As you said, I deal with things emotionally. Footballs an emotional game. Or at least it was!

Much love
MLH

Moving from a old 35,000 stadium to a 66,000 modern stadium is progress and a massive statement of intent likely to bring in a future investor -

Hammers attracted 1,082,468 to the 19 Premier League matches the Club hosted at London Stadium last year, at an average of 56,972 per game.
The Irons ranked third in England in total attendance, behind only Manchester United (1,430,510) and Arsenal (1,139,183) and ahead of champions Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea

why aren't you proud of that ?

instead you will say it's just full of tourists etc ... even if that is the case how can that be helped ?

Do they have to pass your test of what makes a 'real west ham' fan ?

i for one welcome any tourists to visit us, more money for the club is good, hopefully we can convert them to the hammers, it's great we're getting new fans and more importantly young kids attending - they are our future.

i commented the surrounding area at UP was well run down and pubs had been closing down, that aside we have moved 3 MILES...So it was hardly a far away move, we are still in our neighborhood so what's the issue ? in fact, you can still get your pie & mash, fry up and bookies just a short walk away - or do you prefer going into one of the Stratford bars and moaning how bad everything is ?

back to the 'Real West Ham Fans Group' which took thousands out of fans for ''banners, merchandise and flags'' - did you donate ? when they cancelled the march they didn't refund west ham fans, instead they donated all the money to the Isla foundation i believe - is there proof of this ?
above aside, the two 'die hard' west ham fans that led this was a complete embarrassment to the club, good intentions maybe but all they did was create unnecessary unrest.

we wont agree simply.

Im pro the move
pro the stadium
happy with how we are doing

your anti the move
anti the stadium
anti the owners
anti new fans
anti arnaoutivic, anti another player when he's gone.
and happy to label us as 'underachieving shitfest of an outfit'' despite being a top 10 prem side.

Sure you can label me as a 'modern day happy clapper' but you will always be a negative moaner, i just feel for whoever has to sit next to you during the games.

Mate. Anyone who sits next to me will know I'm a proper ray of sunshine.

I've just got in from Wolves and have the right hump so won't address your points until tomorrow.

What a kick in the bollocks that trip was btw. Absolute pony. Not one shot on goal. Your mate Arnautovic was an absolute disgrace tonight. Only Fabianski and at a push Zab came out with any credit whatsoever tonight. Total and complete embarrassment

The only positive note to come out of tonight was the drive out of Wolverhampton. What a c@nt of a place. Still, at least their team play in an actual football stadium. I could even tell which players were on the ball. AMAZING

Still love you bluehammer

Very disappointing, wasn’t for Fabianski score line could have been a lot worse. Such a shame season is imploding as we had really started to look the real deal a few weeks ago. Typical Hammers, onwards and upwards.

Very good point about OS viewing..id forgotten....when i sat in the home end to watch City the other week, the players seemed 5,000 miles away..tiny digits on the horizon.i have excellent eyesight but i was struggling to make out who was on the ball.Thinking back to that day...i have to say..i hated that stadium.i felt detached from the action, the atmosphere was flat, when City scored it was barely audible (and we,d sold out) ...everything was just so distant.
I would be very unhappy if i had to watch my team play at the OS .
At UP/Boleyn ground....id always felt part of the action...always had a good view...can remember the pain of seeing Negrado going down injured in the LC semi final 2nd leg,the absolute joy of watching City win on the first day of the season under Sven..the 3rd goal, right in front of us...going back further under Kendall, even tho Stevie Redmond slip penalty was at the opposite end..i had a clear view.....when Sergio scored after Negradoes outrageous 'dummy'..again close to the action.......i struggle to remember any of the 4 goals we scored last year at the OS...i was there and could barely make out what was going on.
That 'stadium' might be good for access, and selling beer, loads toilets whatever...for actually watching the game ..its not fit for purpose.

totally agree with this, I went to their game against rags in the home section as was on London and had a colleague from the states that supports them over, both acoustically and visibility wise its a pretty torrid experience, it was masked for me as still enjoyed the rags losing 3-1 :-)

What heppened to the protests from last season? They seemed to die off very quickly and everyone went back to putting up with the owners that for a couple of games they wanted out

Free spanking paddle and a 10" butt plug for every ST holder, they were all happy then.
