West Ham 2018/19

I like the Hammers and always have from being young. They always played great attacking football like City. Upton Park crowd very vocal and difficult to get anything there. Like everything time moves on and I am pleased that they seem to be settling in their new stadium now and drawing great crowds. I hope it continues for them and that they get a chance of wining a cup in the not too distant future.

Yes,time does move on,i get that.but if progress is sitting in a vast souless bowl, paying a lot of money to strain your eyes to see the action on the pitch...that cannot be good progress.imo.you say you hope they win a cup ..well thats hardly a decent return for leaving their home ground where they used to get great vocal support, and at times create a rousing intimidating atmosphere..to move into a stadium not fit for football.where is the progress there.
Time will tell..and increased revenue is clearly important ...perhaps more important than sentimental meanderings; )

I share your like of WHU by the way,Alan Devonshire was a great skilful midfield player, under rated, -bit like Gordan Cowans at Villa-Billy Bonds,Lampard senior etc...i just wonder if they ve done the right thing in moving...i for one wont bother visiting that stadium again.simply no point.

I havnt been to the ground I must admit. I did go to Upton Park however and it was a cauldron of noise. It would always be difficult to get that atmosphere in whichever new stadium they moved to. I get your point re the players a long way from the stands. It certainly doesn’t help especially where they came from

If the dippers go there with the same arrogance we did at the barcodes, Pellers could do for us what Rafa did for them.

Nasri with the winner.

:D

Very good point about OS viewing..id forgotten....when i sat in the home end to watch City the other week, the players seemed 5,000 miles away..tiny digits on the horizon.i have excellent eyesight but i was struggling to make out who was on the ball.Thinking back to that day...i have to say..i hated that stadium.i felt detached from the action, the atmosphere was flat, when City scored it was barely audible (and we,d sold out) ...everything was just so distant.
I would be very unhappy if i had to watch my team play at the OS .
At UP/Boleyn ground....id always felt part of the action...always had a good view...can remember the pain of seeing Negrado going down injured in the LC semi final 2nd leg,the absolute joy of watching City win on the first day of the season under Sven..the 3rd goal, right in front of us...going back further under Kendall, even tho Stevie Redmond slip penalty was at the opposite end..i had a clear view.....when Sergio scored after Negradoes outrageous 'dummy'..again close to the action.......i struggle to remember any of the 4 goals we scored last year at the OS...i was there and could barely make out what was going on.
That 'stadium' might be good for access, and selling beer, loads toilets whatever...for actually watching the game ..its not fit for purpose.
A massive point that bluehammer seems to overlook. A West Ham website I go on has a post match away fan comments section. To a man every away fan hates the gaff. They only have to go once a season unlike us. I can only think bluehammer is addicted to popcorn. Popcorn FFS! We're only one step away from music after goals at West Ham. Sh1thole. You know things are bad when you're looking forward to watching us play at Crystal Palace

What heppened to the protests from last season? They seemed to die off very quickly and everyone went back to putting up with the owners that for a couple of games they wanted out
Oh we still want them out. Lifetime bans put paid to a lot of in ground protest. And of course the lie that coins were thrown at the board. World class cctv but nothing was picked up. Funny that.

Other momentum was lost when Brady gave the ex ICF lot an audience. She gave a few imho crap concessions and the wolves were called off. As I've mentioned before getting pellers in and the investment (at last) kept a lot quiet

Rival fans knocking our new stadium. Who’d thought.

UP was clearly a much loved home but there is way to many claret n blue rose tinted nostalgia going on - it was not always a ‘cauldron of noise’ in fact it only ever was when we played the likes of spurs, arsenal etc. Often games against mid table or below opposition it was dead, only the odd groan and boo if we wasn’t winning after 10 mins.

We’ve proved how loud OS can be some games and we have had some great atmosphere, of course when you move to a stadium double your capacity it’s harder to get songs going and enevitabaly feel less attached.

I liken our stadium to Wembley, both distance and atmosphere.

As for blokes getting annoyed by someone eating Popcorn, I can only laugh.

Was organised by ex ICF idiots who hoodwinked there own fans to donate to them for banners, flags etc. Whole thing was a shambles, with them in the end violently threating other west ham groups, they even had the audacity to Label themselves the ‘real’ West Ham fans group.

And people wonder why I’m welcoming a new era for the Hammers

The OS is like Wembley. Wow, the things you read on here!

We’ve had an atmosphere there twice in what, 2.5 seasons! Sh1te

Have you read the bbc report into what our real attendances have been? 42k on average. Empties all over the gaff. They are the ‘new’ fans you crave so much. While 42k is great for little old us, don’t kid yourself.

UP was and always will be head and shoulders above that abortion of a stadium. What do you REALLY like about it? The scaffolding? The trampolines? Deluded
