West Ham (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We were much better upfront than they were though, and that can never be a bad thing ...... okay, West Ham may have created one or two more chances than we did, but they only managed to score a consolation goal near the end, which did them no favours whatsoever ...... City were clinical yesterday, and that made all the difference after the chances we've been missing in recent months.

As long as we are getting maximum points from games, as we have against Leicester and West Ham, then we HAVE to be progressing on some of the pityful City performances that we've been witnessing in the past few months .... i do take your point about our opposition missing chances, but even if our defence was absolutely 'rock solid', what good would it be if we couldn't actually score goals ourselves at the other end????
Fair points but a quality team will punish us big time . Wouldn’t fancy giving Liverpool , Real Madrid etc a two goal lead after ten minutes .

I think KDB has a bee in his bonnet about something, he’s throwing his arms about a lot, seems to be waving his arms at the crowd, something between him and Pep as well, at half time Pep went on the pitch to him instead of going down the tunnel.
Pep went on the pitch to congratulate him for that goal saving clearance he made a few seconds earlier, not something KdB's noted for, it was a great interception, the ball went behind for a corner but the referee blew the whistle for the end of the half.

in essence Pep is setting us up in a 3- 2 - 5 formation. with the two in midfield both wanting to push forward. it is no wonder we are getting run through week in week out. I have no doubts Pep is a genius but surely he must see we need at least one player to sit and stay in a defensive formation. the other issue with the 2 is that Lewis is also the right back.

Zero press or energy
I thought we pressed pretty well yesterday, especially first half, and there was plenty of energy, much more than recently, we were also more direct.

The issue was the defending, for all his good points Savinho needs to up his game defensively, every time West Ham broke he was secinds before he realised he had to get back and support Gvardiol.

The way we attack, we need to have both wide players defend not one. On the other side Foden was doing it with Rico, but they still got behind us, it drags the CB's out, and makes us look a shambles against quick players.

Whilst there were good signs yesterday, all the same defensive issues were on show, had we been playing a more clinical team we could easily have conceded 4 or 5.

At the start of our poor run, it was the attack that was worrying, it wasn't taking easy chances, and the defence were getting caught by quick breaks, yesterday we looked far better going forward, but worse at the back imho, and shuffling the whole defence, because one player is being taken off is imho stupid, and he's done the same switch 3 times now.

What do you think ?
Foul and abusive language and behaviour
There are children and women in the stand and you think it’s acceptable to scream the word **** at someone ? - seriously!
I don't agree with shouting abuse at a City player but this is football.
Opposition players get sworn at, the bastard ref regularly receives abuse. I've done it, loads have.
I don't use the C word but I use plenty of others, should I be banned ?

It's football, moments of anger happen. Passions run high. Are we going to sanitise football so much thst we ban supporters fir being passionate!

"I was sat nearby in 105. The lad shouted something along the lines of, ‘Oi Walker you ****, don’t moan at McAtee that was your fucking fault, you prick… the pass was shit you ****… you’ve been shit for months… driving up and down the country to see all your kids instead of concreting on football, fuck off, you prick’."

whilst i completely condone the way he went about abusing Walker, the actual point he was making and the facts at that moment in time were spot on

Walker despite his previous legend status, right now is a calamity and should be nowhere near the City 11 on the pitch and there are plenty of match going fans who feel the same
No reason for that. Totally unacceptable

Take the first halves against Sporting and Brighton. We were miles better then than we have been in the last two wins.

Putting the ball in the net makes the world of difference.
Agreed, even against spurs we played better, and probably should have been 2 up before they scored with their first attack. We had 23 shots to 9 in that game and managed to let 4 of those in.
