West Ham (H) Post Match Thread

Good result against a very dogged team, I knew this wouldn't be easy, West Ham are playing very well indeed, and that last header should have gained them a draw. Moyes has done a great job there it has to be said.

Good result. Btw, just had a look at their forum and I am surprised to see few comments on how they could have beaten us today apparently. Are they deluded too?

Moyes is a results based manager, so far he is doing well, but West Ham fans are very demanding when it comes to Entertainment, it depends on who you talk to, certainly the Porno brothers and the plastic bunny think it is great.

Well done guys. That's some team you have there, and you were deserving winners. A truly class outfit, from top to bottom...pep especially. Many thanks for accepting me onto your forum, I appreciate it.

As for my lot...well, we did everything I expected and more. I said before the game started that Manchester City away is the hardest game a football team can face, (along with 'take a good look at that ball from kick off lads...you won't be seeing much more of it today') but we acquitted ourselves well, stuck to our task and gave a decent performance.

I'm confident that we can finish in the top half now, maybe even push for seventh, but I refuse to get carried away with talk of top four just yet (at least until it's mathematically impossible for us to finish outside of it!!!). Pragmatic? Perhaps...but more likely scarred by previous failures! As the song goes...fortunes always hiding!

Congrats again, and I look forward to next season's encounters.

Stay safe folks, and COYI!
Always respected West Ham the club and the fans - even in the 80s the encounters with the ICF - really hope you go on and get top 4 at the expense of the red scum on Merseyside

Kevs ball for Diaz's goal was amazing. You wont see a better one all season.

His outside of the left foot for Stones to head in the first against Palace in January shades it for me. Two quality deliveries, something we haven’t seen since Rick Holden walked up and down the wing at Maine Road.

Well done to you lot today! After a tough midweek game to play early on the Saturday is a bit harsh, but it shows how much quality you have in your whole squad! Your bench was ridiculous!

I thought we (hammers) put in a good show and think we've come a long way from the usual 5 goals you put past us.

Thought the game was played in good spirit and was always competitive but your quality showed through! I'm just happy we stayed in the game!!

I think it's fair to say you lot will rightfully take the title this year, you are head and shoulders above the rest! .....and thank god the bin dippers won't be winning it again!!

As for us, I think top 4 is still a dream too far for now, but who knows for the future, Moyes has definitely changed things and made us alot harder to beat!! Top 8 is realistic for us and I think most hammers would be happy with that!!

Well done on the 20 games! That's just mental! Enjoy the rest of the season!

I thought that was a really, really good game of football. West Ham will play a lot worse than that this season and still win 2 or 3 nil, I’d say. In particular Lingard looks a different player. There is something toxic about the club he came from, because you see time and time again good players who turn in mediocre performance after mediocre performance for United and then get their mojo back when they leave. I thought Lingard was exceptional yesterday, and that’s a sentence I’ve never written before.

As for City, we have got the system working. Players will be rotated but the system is the same. That’s why we can change 4 or 5 players from one game to the next and still churn out the results.

Can West Ham finish top 4? I know why you’re keeping it real, but you are the best team we have played in months, including Liverpool, including Chelsea, including a United and including Spurs. Maybe you will tail off, but not judging on yesterday. Really hope you have a strong finish to the season.

Surely you meant ambled or possibly traipsed?
My thoughts exactly.. Rick Holden was a very talented player.. had he broken into an amble more often when plying his trade down the left-wing, I think could have made it at international level..

I am on here as i am banned on the media thread, but yesterday i listened to Talk Sport, the only access to the match i had, the commentary was awful, when they stopped talking to themselves Lingard was great KDB could not pass and there were 3 goals, that might be right when i watch the match i will know, but during the match the regular commentator mentioned City`s treble saying utd`s is the real one so rather than taking the bait i thought which one is the better?
First off there are a few quirks no 1 the CL does have more prestige than the LC, utd played a preliminary game in the CL and they lost the Charity shield which we do not count as a cup but is a competitive game.
Secondary utd`s treble Champions League, League, and Cup has been done 8 times, the Champions League is invitational and not open to all, and i have not included liverpools 2 trebles .

So utd`s played 62 won 36 drew 22 lost 4 goals for 128 against 60 goal difference +68 points 79 overall win% 58%
City`s played 61 won 50 drew 5 lost 6 goals for 169 against 39 goal difference +130 points 98 overall win% 81%
The domestic Treble is open to vastly more competitors yet has only been accomplished once , in short City have won the Treble, utd and liverpool have won deviants,

So what is your reasoning Talk Sport

Thought this was worth sharing. My new favourite non city player

It's all good and I have no objection at all to avoiding walking through the badge because it's totally a personal choice.

But I also think we don't need to promote it as a behaviour that other people need to follow. My thought is, why do we have to walk around the badge to show our respect?
The badge is created right there on the walking way which is used to walk, so just walk through it. If walking through it shows disrespect, then why the club itself decide to create it on the walking way? It clearly shows that when the club decides to create badges that way, they don't consider walking through it is disrespectful, so just make our life easier by just do it that way.

And finally, by avoid walking through it, what're benefits do we bring to society, to the community, to people? I don't see any of it.

What a load of crap this 'expected goals' is. Unless I read it incorrectly, ours against West Ham was 0.50, theirs was 2.5something. How does a Dias free header and a Stones free shot not count as 2. And West Ham 2.5? Other than the goal they scored, they had a couple of half chances at best, blocked shot in the first half and a header in the end.

You are absolutely correct in terms of the overall balance and synchronicity.

I never thought I would see the day when it felt like we were shoehorning in Kev?

He's obviously not fit, but the gaps just aren't there when we play the line up you posted.

Even the second goal today came when Foden and Jesus pressed West Ham by the right left touchline.

Horses for courses, I suppose?
As I was reading through your post, My first thought was, 'Horses for Courses', so I'll agree. My finals thoughts are possibly KdB or Gundog, not both, in the starting XI
