Specific issues: - Flooding and surface water on the M60/M62 + significant floods on Alan Turing Way - Tram lines hit by falling trees - London Euston to routes in the north taking around five hours - All services going north of Preston have been cancelled [via @TyMarshall_MEN]

Travel issues locally and for West Ham fans travelling up from London played a part in the decision to postpone today's game.

Tickets already purchased for today's game will be honoured for the rearranged fixture. Supporters wishing to claim a refund can do so by contacting the Club. [via @ManCityHelp]

They had no choice really

Fortunately we found out before leaving the pub in Carlisle. As it turns out conditions along the M6 were pretty horrendous for a coach journey so from our point of view City made the right call. Still pissed off though - my regular readers (Lol !) will recall that we all missed the Fulham game due to our coach breaking down en route ! What is it with these Sunday games ?
It was your fault for staying in Woodies instead of being in your lucky seat on the coach. ;0)

More to the point most of the other places mentioned are at reasonably high altitude. I think there are stronger gusts later today in Scotland (over mountain tops), but I suspect 86mph at the airport is close to, or a historical record.

I'm sure Marvin will be impressed, and it occurred at about the time they made the decision to postpone our game, the later storm and both lightning/hail/rain/wind about 10 minutes after kick off, would have had it abandoned anyway.
