West Ham - Post match thread

I'm not getting carried away, but for blues that are a similar age to me, that only watched crap on the pitch until 2008, tonight was so special.

To actually watch top class 19/20 year olds play like that, was an absolute joy

I always dreamt that we would get a class youngster, that we could watch develope into a genuine world class player, but now it's a reality, and not just one

I'm one happy bunny

Need to remember that Sergio has had a knock and only started training a couple of days ago, nice easy decision for Pep to leave him on the bench.

Now, the Sunday selection is a different kettle of fish....

It was wonderful.

The next trick is to develop a method of staying in a game when it goes wrong.

Then if we solve that, we win everything.

Pat Nevins take on tonights impressive performance

"I think if Manchester City play the team they did tonight away from home against other team, they will be found out.

"They are far too open. Yaya Toure, as the holding midfielder, won't get around enough against decent teams.

Or if we could just take our bloody chances like tonight, and outscore difficult opponents!

a few tweaks and we've got one hell of a team, especially if the manager stays and carry on with his ideas

It would be a waste to just stay 3 years

Like spurs did for an hour?....

The big inform team got well and truly bummed, only a dodgy ref saved them

Sane, Sterling, Jesus, Stones, Garcia. Roberts?

De Bruyne

Yaya, Navas, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Bravo, Kolarov, Zabaleta, Kompany, Sagna et al.

We have a large imbalance in our squads ages. If we can nail that high caliber peak age of 24-26 for some quality signings and balance it with our potential and experienced players, we'd be a potent force.

I agree.

We have a shitload of young players to develop who could play with these & they would all be 50% more likely to make it if Pep was here.

Is it just me that reckons Andy Carroll should have been sent off for deliberately smashing into Fernandinho's back? Obviously meant it and there was no other reason than to hurt him, can't see any difference between that and deliberately kicking someone which is always a red.

Well it's certainly a great moment for us. Kids that looked a bit rusty at the start of the season coming into their own and giving us glimpses of the future, to a really strong bench thanks to a fully fit squad.

I thought West ham were poor, absolutely, and our weakness is certainly when we are pressed between the lines, but we had so much to offer in terms of a front 5 tonight they didn't know whether to press or defend. They ended up doing neither and that's a great problem for us to have because it's made how teams set up against us that little bit harder. Jesus has given us such a lift, and such quality and has really helped both Sterling and Sane. His arrival has given us the answer to we how we attack.

Of course that leaves a problem, because using Aguero means changing a system that has worked brilliantly for 2 games and that had a snippet against Spurs. He's got to bring his a game here, because there are literally new kids on the block.

Consistency is an issue for us, and defensively we have one or two problems still, but I can't help feel we are a couple of full backs and centre back away from being sorted.

The league is gone, champions league qualification is now the carrot, but fuck me sideways, I am really looking forward to next season.

It was a violent challenge and should have seen at least a yellow card but then again, Friend had decided very early on that West Ham could kick us to fuck so wasnt that surprised when it went ignored.

Did you see the challenge on Raheem?

Not even a foul apparently pmsl.

Well they didn't get yellows for deliberately kicking people so...

Absolutely! Proper technical coaching, rather than push ups for hours on end. Those rondo videos are great to watch, that's what these lads need to be doing

They got away with a few tonight. That tackle on sterling from creswell was shocking. I noticed we got a couple of yellows for little taps from behind, and they got away with at least 5

The 'accidental collision' with Sané.
