West Ham - Post match thread

Don''t think we'll see Swansea play many square passes in the midfield and will definitely press us higher up the pitch. West Ham were, quite frankly, woeful, and a quick peek into KUMB shows that all is not well with them. I thought we were ruthless in our finishing, thank you West Ham, but that our best work last night was actually when we lost possession, albeit that wasn't often.

Just seen peps interview on SSN, asked if he regretted sending Joe Hart on loan, he said 'no, I have to make hard decisions and make a lot of mistakes' is there a way back for Joe? Or am I just hoping to much???
Can you imagine Joe Hart and a fit vinny in this side. Wow.

Add laporte and we'd dominate every single opposition.

i quite enjoy hearing and reading that we are only winning games because the opposition fail to turn up against us for some inexplicable reason.

keep your heads buried in the sand lads :-)

I don't even think that's anti-City bias, it's just this strange belief that communicating with your hands is some cardinal sin. It's bizarre. You always hear "ohh that's disgusting, nobody likes to see that." Seriously, you'd think the player had taken a shit on someone. Asking for a yellow with words is no different to asking for a yellow with a gesture, yet one is an automatic yellow and a smear on your reputation, whilst the other is accepted. So stupid.

I'm not sure Jesus's English is quite good enough yet to say 'bloody heck old chap referee, I rather thing that WHU rotter deserves a booking'. So, communicating via sign is a perfectly understandable response as I can't imagine Friend's Portuguese is up to much either!

I don't know which of the goals at 3-0 they meant but the BT commentary suggested that it was woeful West Ham that were the cause of them. Can you imagine a comment like that if any of the first half goals had been scored by a trio of Ragamuffins! The crescendo from the RagDipperArseMeedya would not yet have died away.

And how long does the open season on Raheem Sterling continue? There are more potshots taken on Sterling (unsanctioned, blatant fouls) than the grouse of the Scottish moorlands have to contend with.

I play 5-a-side at the Trafford Centre with some old duffers and their kids on a Wednesday night, so haven't seen any of the match yet. Will catch the highlights on the official site in my lunch break.

Great win and a great week for us with everyone else dropping points.

It was a classic example of clinical finishing which unfortunately has been lacking at times and cost us countless points. West Ham were done the second we scored, the FA Cup result is still fresh in their minds and the excitement of a new player like Jesus only added to the sense we could score a hatful.

Without wanting to go into the goalkeeper situation too much as it's been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere, the whole team looks more confident with Willy in goal. I don't think we'll see Bravo again, I really don't.

I see a few people getting giddy suggesting a title challenge is still on but we haven't shown anything like the consistency that would require. At our best we have been by far the best team in England but flashes of brilliance will always be trumped by machine like consistency.

Last point, Sterling showed again why he can be so frustrating. He's a huge weapon for us and games like that are perfect for him. He just needs to keep learning and striving to be the best. He has a chance to become world class and really silence the critics.

Analysis - 'City will be found out'
Former Chelsea and Everton winger Pat Nevin, BBC Radio 5 live

"I think if Manchester City play the team they did tonight away from home against other team, they will be found out.

"They are far too open. Yaya Toure, as the holding midfielder, won't get around enough against decent teams.

"West Ham are the perfect team for Manchester City. They played 4-4-2 and were destroyed in midfield.

"Tactically it was a mess."

Those are Pat Nevin's comments in their entirety. A balanced and fair reflection on the game, clearly.

Easy to criticise West Ham. If they stormed forward they knew we'd destroy 'em on the break in the space behind. If they sat back they'd be praying we couldn't finish. In the end they did neither. Give us some credit for that.
Oh I'm giving plenty credit pal, I just thought West ham offered absolutely nothing in either department that you mentioned. No wonder the ground emptied at halftime
