West Ham United (A) | Post-Match Thread

Great comeback in a tough match. No surprise that the match thread was utterly pathetic with the usual posters calling out the usual players with very little justification. Very proud of the effort made to get back into the game with a depleted side. Well done boys - it's in our hands.

Really worried about this defence going into Villa. Ollie Watkins vs. Fernandinho? Hope Ake is fit by then.

Did well to come back, but we were well below par today.

Defence was dogshit and will be the same against Villa.
Not sure who else Pep could have played but we were lucky only to concede two given some of the chances we gave them. Not really the game to trust a youngster as any mess up could destroy him. Hopefully Ake will be fit enough to start against Villa.

Take the point considering half time. Mahrez again, though, costing us. I love the bloke, a real advocate for him and how important he is for us, but he’s let us down in big moments a few times recently.

Grealish was brilliant IMO.

We’ll still win it. I fancy Southampton…
Technically you would be more accurate to say Oleks cost us, both goals were down to him. Mahrez hit the pen well but would have been better served either higher or lower, too comfortable height for the goalie.

Good point in the end. Don’t get the criticism.
They played badly.

Yes there is merit in getting a point out of a bad performance. But they were 2 soft breakaway goals to concede and the production in front of goal was awful.

Plus a missed penalty is a missed penalty.

The criticism is perfectly justified.

I've said earlier, it's still in our hands so it isn't like all is lost, but this is arguably 2 lost rather than 1 gained.

After that first half I will take 2-2.

Nothing Liverpool can do when we win next Sunday., Title is ours.

Would have liked to have seen KDB take that penalty.

And maybe Phil get some minutes for Mahrez......Meaning KDB would have took the Pen instead of that greedy fucker :-)

Bizarre how Pep is reluctant to make Subs in games given he was behind wanting 5.

Think 2-2 was probably a fair result given how many chances our defense gifted them from nothing.

I’m honestly just relieved that we came back after being 2 down. The game was there to win, which was frustrating. Kevin should be our penalty taker. Anyway, we kept the pressure on Liverpool. It’s 100% in our hands, but the last game is going to be our toughest of the season. Villa would like nothing more than to hand the title to Liverpool. Lots to improve on defensively before then.

A fullback is becoming more important this summer, because Zinchenko just can’t be depended on. He’s okay for rotation in the odd game, but he is a major liability against teams playing on the counter with pace. They all target him mercilessly, and it’s no coincidence.

Great fight back but should have won it, how many chances have we spunked away to have won this title already?
Poor from Ederson again, pretty iffy as well from Zinchenko.
Mahrez again with the huge miss, been mediocre since he got back from AFCON. Huge miss late on at home to Liverpool, huge pen miss today.
Gab worked very hard all match, Jack was good 2nd half
Cancelo kept giving the ball away
All set for a horrible next Sunday again......unless Soton can do us a huge favour

How we can go from being absolutely brilliant to bob average still astounds me. Still, to come back from 2 down and get a point means we will take the title with another win. Another missed penalty surprise surprise. Give them to Ederson and have done with it. Manchester City, the club guaranteed to give their fans heart failure.

Better than losing, but we looked so disjointed and nervy from the start.
The three points on a plate and you knew we wouldn’t take them.

Liverpool in that same position do not miss a penalty.

It’s something that really needs sorting in the team.

Well. A week to prepare and repair. Let’s do it City.
To be fair Liverpool are second cause mane missed a sitter and salah missed a penalty against Leicester
It does happen!

all things considered, good fight on the second half, shame that mahrez missed the pen but its in our hands. Just got to beat villa at home, shouldnt be that hard

Benzema had two pen in the semi vs City, Panenka on first and sent Ederson the wrong way on the second.
two crucial pens they needed both to be scored to go through.

and then Mahrez pulls this shit pen.

why he was on the pitch anyway, would have subbed him off 60min mark. he did nothing today, right wing was dead because of him. not one good pass or cross.

I prefer him to leave not Jesus or Sterling, age would dictate that too logically.

Not going to dwell on the pen, and saviour the fact we managed to claw back a game for a change. We will win our final game. Cmon City.
