Trautmann, now we are talking.
I was in Heaton Park yesterday, came across a couple of toddlers head to toe in City kit and asked them who their favourite players was. The little girl - Keira Walsh? No, said the little lad. You won't guess who my favourite player was! Bert Trautmann, I said. He was 9ft 6 and had hands like shovels. Every shot on him was caught one handed, and then he threw the ball straight upfield to Bobby Johnstone or Don Revie and City scored. The ladies with them were just a little amused at the story I fed them.

I watched Liverpool v Fulham and their only ‘tactic’ when they went behind was to hoof the ball up to Salah and hope he could cut inside and shoot.

It was boring and predictable and Fulham dealt with it pretty well.
Fulham showed how to rattle Liverpool. Use the same, high intensity that Liverpool do. It was brave and very effective.

Be careful mate.

Nowadays talking to a bunch of kids in a park ….
And if a copper hears you told them a City story your troubles will get a lot worse …

Absolutely; they don’t enjoy it being given back to them. It does need incredible fitness levels though, and even they can’t maintain it for the full duration of a match. They seem gamble on scoring early, and it usually works. Never forget that game vs them when Bernardo was fully on it the whole match; they couldn’t handle it. Probably his most memorable performance in a blue shirt for me (other than the one with the pre-match warm beverage).

I remember seeing him play at Spurs ground. He was phenomenal. As you say, could take the ball one handed. Saved a penalty from CliffJones and anything else they threw at him. Great memories.

Yes, my theory is, if you can be level with Liverpool at half time, you have every chance of beating them.
