West Ham v City FA Cup post match

It was a complete performance from the players yesterday. Guardiola must be happy to see the players moving the ball quickly and with direction and intent. It was fluid with everyone moving around and creating space and openings for each other. Zabaleta has always been nuanced and good when it comes to movement off the ball and it only makes sense that he displays the great movement in midfield, and this ability led to chances and created the crucial first goal in the game. I don't see him being very effective anymore as a fullback and a midfield switch is something that will have to be made, not because of his performance yesterday but because that is now his best position. Sagna is solid and he should be left alone in the right back position, no need to be changing it continuously.

A curious thing also in the game was the positioning of Aguero. It seems to me anyway that he was positioned deeper and on the right side of the pitch and then moved freely throughout the match. He was not separated and isolated from the rest of the team and that played a big part in the effectiveness of the team's performance.Another key aspect is Stones who instigated plays from the back and looked very comfortable as well

The issue or challenge now will be for the manager to at least keep the same system for the next game- the players seemed very comfortable out there- and let them grow and become accustomed to it. This may be the Conte moment where he finally finds the recipe for sustained success for the rest of the season.

For the first time in ages we started the game quickly and directly. Too often we let teams settle into the game and get comfortable and confident by us starting slowly but we got at them from the off and it was great to see some good counter attacking from us too.

Yaya dictated the pace of that whole game. Now he's fit he's still a brilliant player.

Sterling and Silva made their defenders worried throughout and I thought we pissed about at the back far less with Willy in nets.

Equally as pleasing was the continued work rate throughout the 90+ minutes , pressing them in twos and threes throughout the game that they simply gave up.

How many times under MP were we three up with 30 minutes to go only to see the players strolling around with the cigars out, they are running through brick walls for Pep even sacrificing their own game to a degree for the greater cause of the team.

When the club circle the waggons like this week it's a potent cocktail that other teams should rightly fear.

A good summer window (Over to you Txiki) and we will become the real deal.

How good were our subs aswell last night , Nolito thrived in that role - as did Garcia, Delph will be a useful squad member with his energy - would love him to become a fullback at the club.

Special mention to Zab last night- fantastic display and could easily have had a couple.

Got to give huge credit to Yaya. Over the last 4 or 5 weeks he has been hands down our best player, it's not even close. He also seems far more focused on the pitch than he used to.

Nailed on penalty , no dispute Lineker is a cock , after 30 minutes didnt see a 5-0 result coming but Merlin and Yaya toyed with West Ham the Hammers were in half decent form before this game holding the Rags to 0-0 for 80 minutes with ten men only last week. Don't think it was West Ham playing badly more just a superb team performance from us , no doubt the media will see it differently and the Bilic out campaign/ he is cracking up campaign will now be in full force

Thought Serge looked happier last night. He had a massive grin on his face after every goal, no matter who scored it.
