Wetherspoons

Grim. Ubiquitous. Understaffed. Not as cheap as made out.

You also have to question the sense of an establishment which insists on serving cocktail ingredients separately if the drink you want isn't on the menu.

People who go in Wetherspoons should be barred from having a breeding licence.
nice one! ive been in a fair few times, but im assuming you mean the people who spent their night in there and start fights n shit? ive had a breakfast n pint before city a few times, wouldnt spend more than n hour in there

I hate Lloyd's in the Printworks, crap pub and they only do well because of the prices. Having a nice breakfast in there sums up why Weatherspoon's pubs are crap.

anything that offers care in the community and reasonably priced medication can not be such a bad thing. they only need to offer a soup run and they will be helping the underclasses perfectly :-)

A pub that advertises a beer festival and has staff question you as to why you wont accept a cloudy pint can go fuck themselves.
Then the (female) manager turns up and asks you how you know its not right if you haven't tasted it - that really takes the piss.

This is the supermarket of pubs - only caters for the part of the industry that makes money and ignores the rest of it. Food and quick turnover beer - stuff the rest as it doesn't make any money.

I remember reading about the Wetherspoons philosophy when they started to get big. No jukebox, no pool table or dart board, just cheap beer and a traditional pub atmosphere.
It's not exactly worked has it. Soulless drinking holes for tramps, cheap beer for cheap people. Instead of the traditional pub they are intended to be, they are the MacDonalds of pubs. Horrible places that suck the life out of the high street as surely as all the other big corporate shops. They might as well be called Beer@Boots or PubTesco.
