WFA Cup - Aston Villa A - 19th March 18:00.

I take on board everything that has been said about Taylor, but, the finishing was utterly woeful, he can't be blamed for that. Also has to be said that the Villa shithousery was masterful. Time wasting without equal, every dead ball took an age, every injury feigned or otherwise took an eternity to resolve, they really knew how to disrupt our game. Noticeable just how much more aggressive they were as well. For all our failings, and there were many today, I couldn't watch the Villa team regularly.

Wouldn't put it all on him, though he's certainly a large part of why we lost today. Players just didn't take their chances. We definitely had the better of most of the game but just couldn't finish things off.
Agree our finishing was poor but Taylor did not make any changes until it was too late. The whole set up today looked disjointed.

That in a nutshell.

I've no idea why he took Hemp off, Kelly was terrible, and wasteful.
Fully agree. As usual, Castellaneous was useless (despite scoring). Kasperiji was utterly shit. Kelly's head completely went when dhe missed the clear one on one - and because of that a number of promising situations gone due to her greediness.
Think Hasegawa and Alexandri played well and Shaw ran her heart out.
But why no subs till 105 mins played? Baffling.
And then 2 foul throws in about a minute.
Oh well, still the league to fight for but please stop playing Castellanos. She's woeful

Season over for me, they're not winning the league, we might just make the CL with a bit of luck, but we'll likely get a shit draw again anyway, I actually think it would be better to not qualify long term.
If Taylor remains as coach it won't make any difference if we qualify who we draw, we won't win it with him or get far in the tournament.

Don't fully agree...

Villa signing big names...
Rags turning down world record bids...
Chelsea holding on to their best players....
Arsenal putting in world record bids....

We let our best players leave and replace them with lesser players.

Think the club have just settled for mediocrity for the women.
Whereas I agree other clubs have improved I do think our recruitment has been decent. Hasegawa, Blakstad, Fowler, Aliexandri are all good players and should be part of the back bone of the team. The reason I think Taylor is to blame is:

1. He would rather play players out of position than drop certain players. Aliexandri has the potential to be a top level centre back yet he has had her as a right back then left back. It's about building a solid partnership.

2. In the three biggest games (in cup comps) this year he has lost tactically. Again tonight Villa were not better just more clinical - they only had 3 chances and scored 2. In my opinion if he had made changes when we were getting lots of possession around the 60th min we would have won.

3. When it is clear that something isn't working - tonight for example Kelly was having a mare - he doesn't change it until it's too late. In fact he took off Hemp who was a constant threat and actually had them panicking and left Kelly on.

3. We have had a decent run and there were signs that the balance of the team was getting there so he changed 3/4 back four again. I like Esme as a player but her defending tonight was terrible. In a knock out game you want your skipper on to lead them and I know Steph has declined a bit but she still has the gravitas to lift a team in tough moments.

4. Most importantly we had players on the bench who can finish yet he wouldn't bring them on until late in the first half of extra time. That tells me he is a manager that is reactive rather than pro active.

My view will not change about him. He has his favourites and those who voice a differing opinion are moved on. Keep him and we will see others go. But I do believe we have good young players that need a better coach to make them a better team. Fowler, Blakstad, Angeldhal and Hasegawa should be starting most games.

5. He has created a team that relies on Bunny scoring every single game. She was clearly frustrated tonight because 2 or 3 times Kelly refused to lay the ball off for a good chance. We have to have more threat.

3.
I like Blakstad and Fowler but he hardly ever plays them, you are right about him and his favourites.
Hasegawa at the moment is our most important player but she can't do everything in her own, she needs some support.
Agree Morgan had a poor game, it was her poor pass that led to their first goal.
We have a good group of young and exciting players but he just doesn't know how to use them.
