One of the blokes from our cricket club and his missus got shot and killed there. He was a lovely bloke. You don't expect that do you?Yes it is ,i was staying in Sousse i think ,where the shooting on the beach was
But was it your worst holiday? :-)
That is sad , such a beautiful beach , just enjoying the sun , it was tragicOne of the blokes from our cricket club and his missus got shot and killed there. He was a lovely bloke. You don't expect that do you?
Think you need a bit more than that. An MP5 perhaps? For keeping the locals away
I went to Zante in the early 90s. Main thing i remember was that shitwreck boat. I bet they placed it there years before so tourists could could take pics of it.Only went on a plane when I was 51 (was shit scared of flying before that). Had some lovely holidays since then (Amsterdam, Rhodes, Nerja, Berlin) but didn't particularly like Zante.
Boiling to death in a town that caters mainly for kids was a wrong move, but even if it hadn't been geared for mainly that I still wouldn't go back. Can't be arsed with sitting in the middle of an island where the sun is beating down relentlessly, yet you feel as if the infrastructure is making it up as it goes along and it really doesn't give a shit because you are here now and nowhere else to spend your money.
I also went there in the early 90s with a group of mates. Absolutely belting place, 3 large bottles of Lowenbraü for 500 dr. About £1.50!
Girls aplenty, fantastic holiday. Remember the buzz bar with the DJ wearing a tartan cap.
Edit just looked at Kavos on Google Earth FFS. It was rough in 1991.I also went there in the early 90s with a group of mates. Absolutely belting place, 3 large bottles of Lowenbraü for 500 dr. About £1.50!

You're right, it's still there. Didn't go, fuck that.I went to Zante in the early 90s. Main thing i remember was that shitwreck boat. I bet they placed it there years before so tourists could could take pics of it.
I bet it's still there and still making holiday reps a few quid in commission.
Off topic - but your post triggered forgotten memories - I was in Sumatra at the time in 1998 whilst traveling around the world and remember the chaos with the army coming out on the streets as the Indonesians were rioting against Chinese shops and properties and only just managed to get back to Penang In Malaysia - it was bloody tense out there at the time.Jakarta Indon 1998. My plan was a few days in Jakarta then overland to Bali. Never happened, arrived in Jakarta a couple of days after major riots. I was verbally abused left right and center by locals on forays into town. The air was tension filled so sacked the Java overland part of the trip and flew to Bali after 3 tense days in the Capital.I had a good 3 weeks there. Full of Aussies though.
