What a superbly run football club we are now.

Personally I think it will have been Manuel who pushed for the announcement as it now makes him available for job offers and I'm sure the club and Pep would rather have not announced anything until there was no chance of City facing Bayern Munich in the CL
I'm also sure that Manuel was informed of the plans three years ago when he was interviewed for the job

I love the fact that he made the announcement at the end of the press conference and took all the hacks by complete surprise

Possibly so although my guess is that the agreement with Pep was recently finalised so City wanted to get it signed and sealed to prevent any last minute problems. It also allows Pelle to make himself available for clubs who are interested in him for next season. There was also a comment recently that said a contract has to be registered with the FA within a month of being signed, since Pelle said that he's known for a month it all ties in. Magnificent to do it as they did totally took the journos by surprise and now its done and dusted we can all move on.

Twice i've seen you post that Dave, did i miss something in 2012 with reference to Agureo and Pep?

I think it is clear from yesterday's statement that the OP and many others on here were correct when they hinted many times that Mancini was getting sacked up to the moment we won the league in 2012.

Whilst the thought of Pep being here 3 years earlier is salivating in many ways the price we would've paid for that is to have NOT won the league when we did, and as importantly to me at least, in the WAY we did. I wouldn't swap that moment for anything. Anything at all. It was magical and a perfect perfect release to the 30 + years of shit we took from them bastards.

Also, if he had come then, we probably would be saying goodbye to him in the summer instead of saying hello.

Instead we have won the league. Twice. Seeing off the two biggest set of cunts in the history of English football. AND we now have pep to look forward to still.

Yet one more reason to love Aguero. As if we needed one. (And Mancini of course but yesterday's news will hopefully mean we have a manager that everybody can agree is the best in the business)

Personally I think it was released yesterday because of the transfer deadline day. City had the big show because of that. And it was a very smart move like this.

I am pretty sure that Pellegrini wanted it out. Financially he probably has a deal with City and for his next jobs and own career it is better to have it out open. And the rumours and secrets do not help any of the parties.

I hoped on a big press conference with Guardiola today - because I expect the English media guys to pester the Bayern press conferences in the next months with questions about City and possible players. Like this Guardiola could have made a clear and open statement that it was that and all they get until the summer.

The only scenario where City would have wanted to wait until there was no chance of facing Bayern would have been if Bayern lost their next CL tie. That would have allowed an announcement at the end of March. As would a City defeat by Kiev, although City definitely would not have been planning on that assumption!

If City and Bayern both progress to the CL QF then the announcement date would have had to slip to the end of April at the earliest. 4 or 5 games from the end of the PL season, possible CL and/or FA Cup Semi finals on the horizon. I just cant see that the club would have planned on that basis.

It's been obvious for a while that we are well-run and have a clear strategy. However, several members of the press corps, as well as swathes of fans of our opponents, believe we are organised on the basis of chaos and reaction. I cannot work out whether it is bitterness or lack of intelligence that prevents them from appreciating reality.

We are the real deal. The mutts nuts. We are not hear to stay as we are on our way to the stars.

You may want to wind your neck in on this. Some people who remember your posts in other threads may get the wrong idea.

Just sayin

Wind my neck in? No thanks, right back at you mate.

If people choose to deliberately look for something more in that comment then there is then that's on them, not me. As you said, they'd be getting the wrong idea anyway so I couldn't careless.

Not sure why you had to take this thread off on a personal tangent like you have.

It was meant as a friendly word, nothing more. You want to ignore it, go right ahead.

How long was the period between Pellegrini's press conference and the Guardiola announcement?

about 90 seconds. If I'm right the press office had a printed press release ready to circulate at the end of the press conference. It was completely co-ordinated, in other words.
